Do you get a letter in the mail…..when you see wrinkles….
when you forget things….Is there one thing that truly tells you?

When some punk calls you an old man. When you reach 110 years old you get a letter from the queen of England.

For me is when you can’t trust a fart to be dry. Happened when I turned 40. It takes the joy out of letting one rip, whenever you please.

When you can no longer paint a room a day.

When you interact with an attractive young woman and she says you remind her of her dad.

When you see a group of young women checking out guys and realize you are invisible.

I don’t know, I’ll tell you when it happens. I got hit buy a f’ing car a week ago while bicycling. Launched me with a couple bounces on pavement and into a roll in a yard. I did not miss a single day of work. I went mountain biking a few days ago and felt fine. The day something like that puts me in the hospital I’ll feel old.

I felt really old when I was 60 (the age my parents died) but I haven’t felt old for the past 15 years, so far.

When it requires more than one try to stand up.

When SNLs skit, “I crapped my pants” stops being funny.

When you no longer find pennies older than you in your pocket change.

When you stop offering opinions, and switch to advice.

When waking up always means a battle to get to the toilet before you pee.

When you find yourself hiring people to do stuff for you out of necessity not luxury.

When your body starts making noises without your permission.

I’m old because:

I can’t lose the weight like I used to.

25 year-olds look 16 to me.

I feel stiff in my muscles and joints.

I don’t care or worry about a lot of things that I used to think were important.

I love and value my husband’s companionship in a way that I didn’t understand I could when I was younger.

I agree about the muzak said above. I sing and dance in the supermarket aisles.

- When you start to realize how stupid you were when you see kids doing the exact same thing you attributed to “coolness” years ago.
– When you care more about solution than petty blaming.
– When you realize being a child is actually fun.
– When you realize freedom comes with responsibility, and not “yay it’s party”.
– When you start to keep people who are actually valuable to you instead of holding onto bad ones just for social obligation.
– When you start to acknowledge your limited time on Earth and stop feeling like wasting time.
– When you say “gosh, I’m old”.

At least that’s what happens to me. Fun story: I realize I’m no longer the youngest employee in my workplace. Being around the younger coworkers reminds me how much I have aged.

Gosh I’m old.

When I was working, it was important to make NO mistakes. When I found myself making several mistakes a week. My driving became less trustworthy, and I began struggling for words.
When this happened, I retired.

When furniture from the year you were born are officially labeled “antiques,” and clothes are labeled “vintage.” THEY AREN’T VINTAGE! THEY ARE COOL!

anniereborn's avatar

@Mimishu1995 Aren’t you like under 25? Get off my lawn!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Right? I think she’s barely in her 20s, if that!
