Do You have a Loud CoWorker?

“Great Question” (3points)

There is a lady in my office who wears like 10 huge brass bangle bracelets and she constantly slams them on her desk and its really annoying. She’s really loud period, she slams her cabinets shut, hits the printer buttons loud, she has a set of like 20 keys and she hooks them to her belt and lets them jingle and clank into everything. She eats popcorn and apples at her desk and chews with her mouth open. She wears swishy clothes and moves around constantly. LoL it’s comical how loud she is. I have no clue if anyone else is annoyed as me with her noise but I would never say anything to anyone about it.

Do you have an annoying coworker like this? Vent to me:

I would never hire anyone overtly annoying but I do have this loud issue you speak of. Outside my office door is the main reception area where customers do their customer stuff which is normal sound output most of the time. But the employees will gather there to talk about the weather or whatever and it can get loud which blows my ability to concentrate. Depending on my mood I will either close my door, lean out my door and gently suggest they are being a bit loud at the moment, other days like today I will scream STFU already!

I work by myself but if someone comes into my work area, they have to bellow to be heard over the music.

I work in an open office space so NO ONE can close a door to shut out disturbances! I hate it!

@BackinBlack -Can you wear noise cancelling earphones?

BackinBlack's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I wish! I work the front desk and I get calls like every 60 seconds. My boss doesn’t like when I wear headphones or even put music quietly on my computer. It’s so lame.

@BackinBlack -I feel for you.
I wonder if there is a quick meditation you could do to help?

There was this woman whose voice carried very well. She did not shout, but you could hear her from a fair distance. It was brought to her attention good naturedly, but it made no difference. She is now working on a different floor out of earshot.

All of mine are loud, gregarious people (media), so yes.

Luckily I have a door I can close and earbuds to drown them out, and a fan as well.

No. I work in a very quiet office and it’s so quiet that it’s annoying. No one talks hardly. It’s like working in a library from the 50s. I say 50s because the generations that came afterwards seemed to have gotten louder and louder. Plus now they have computers there where you can hear typing.

Well, employee anyway.
I order them to shout sing “for he’s a jolly good fellow” whenever I give them a raise.

@BackinBlack
Perhaps she is trying to get attention from her coworkers?
Give her a plate of goodies to munch on and that would keep her busy.

@Inspired_2write she would just chew the goodies even louder. :D I think she is just an intense person and I am a sensitive person.
