Competition in our family started when we received our school report cards and were compared to each sibling in our family.
Then it turned into a rivalry between the dominant male ( brother) and the dominant female (sister) who carried this throughout life.
It was the way that our family was brought up to compete not only with the world but within the family and I suppose that all comes down to the era that our parents grew up in?
It is no wonder that families split apart in adulthood, as they are carrying a lifetime of competition with the siblings of which the only way to “get off the treadmill” is to leave and go one’s own way?
My guess is that the “yardstick used” to measure success is too often Financial means?
