The president I’ve had the most fun reading about is JFK. I think he is most certainly overrated, but I also think it’s important that he was the first president to view civil rights as a moral issue. I think he would’ve accomplished a lot more if he had not been assassinated. (Important civil rights legislation that passed under Johnson was drafted under Kennedy).
That’s the problem: you’re still asking for opinions. An opinion is, by it’s nature, subjective. For instance, one could point to the creation of Social Security as one of Franklin Roosevelt’s most significant legacies. That might seem like an accomplishment. However many folks consider Social Security to be nothing more than a government-ran Ponzi scheme.
Lincoln and Kennedy were the best spoken, and most thoughtful. JFK especially projected education, reason, and an appreciation for the arts.
FDR certainly brought the country back from ruin. Obama did that as well, to a lesser degree.
Teddy Roosevelt had verve and vision.
@Darth_Algar – By all means, voice your opinion on who your fav pres. is/was. then if you would be so kind, state what you think that pres. accomplished while in office and what you think their legacy will be. :)
George Washington. He was instrumental in freeing the country. And he didn’t campaign for office. That I am aware of.
The only TRUE democracy related POTUS.
I loved Bill, and Obama. Obama would likely have been much more successful, if he didn’t inherit the GW dumpster fire, and have to deal with the obstructionist GOP…
