Ok, this is going to be a long one. Right now the biggest thing in my mind is this: there is this Youtube channel that used to clog my recommendation a while ago. His videos in my recommendation list were about personal development and his insight was super useful to me, even though I already know the basics of some of them. But that was his videos of about 2016. His recent videos are just rambling of a man deeply stuck in drug use and narcissism of being the most enlightened human being. His last video is chocked full of comments about how he is too narcissistic to be enlightened and that’s just sad…
2019 seems to be the first time his spirituality teaching was criticized by other spirituality enthusiasts. A lot of the critics seem to dismiss the fact that he didn’t originally start his channel as a spirituality channel, he started out as a life coach channel. I think his biggest problem is that he confused life coaching with spirituality. They look the same on the surface, but they are actually two different things which require different skill sets to master. The guy didn’t realize that and just looked at his success on life coaching and thought he could just go straight into spirituality to further his career. This thinking is like thinking just because you’re an expert at crossword puzzle means you automatically qualified for Sudoku they are both puzzles and require filling something inside a square right? :D That, plus his discovery of drug gave him the illusion that he finally mastered the truth of the universe and led to his downfall.
Instead of trying to be the most enlightened human, he should have stuck to being a life coach and actually improved his videos in a more creative way. Literally every video is just him looking at the camera and talking non-stop for an hour. That gets boring after a while and provides no creativity. He could have tried to use more visual cues or talk about more relevant topics. There are so many ways he could have tried to make his channels better without using drug and becoming crazy…
This channel is extremely interesting to me. It unintentionally taught me about how to know what you are truly good at and how fame can drive people crazy. The guy’s mission is to teach people how to be better, so in a way his story does make me a better person so I’d say he did something right?
