What irked me was in the beginning there was no information on how it would roll out over time. That availability would grow. It didn’t affect me, because I’m too young to be in the first group, but I saw people struggling with it. Although, I have to say everyone rushing in the first day clambering for a shot was a bit of insanity too. It was like the run on toilet paper all over again. People somewhat created their own misery. Obviously, not everyone can be first.
Also, the initial roll-out in my state seemed to allocate vaccine quantity by total population of each county rather than eligible population, which really bothered me.
I created a covid Facebook group and people in the group helped each other with tips on where and how to get the vaccine. We have a list of all the websites to book appointments, a list of phone numbers to book appointments, where people can go first come first serve, which locations have which vaccines, and also how to get a home visit vaccination if you are homebound.
We also have tips like to get on a Walmart Waste Avoidance list if you are not eligible for vaccination yet or don’t want to deal with making an appointment. That’s what I did, I called Walmart and they took my name and about 5 days later they called and I drove a mile and a half to my Walmart and got my shot.
