I have been seeing teasers in the news for months and I finally quit paying attention to them.

I haven’t heard of any new checks.

No.

Yes and no.
Everyone won’t be getting stimulus checks, but there will be new payents for people with children.

Child tax credit checks of $300 a month per child are starting this week:

I have been following this man for over a year. He is an economist who has all the most accurate info regarding the stimulus, and the details in the bills associated with them. He covers tax details, childcare, college loans, social security inclusion, and all the financial recovery programs being considered or passed. He posts the latest every weekday afternoons, and he is very accurate. He doesn’t clickbait.

Occasionally he does an evening episode involving investment advice. Sometimes he does weird news bits to break monotony when congress is dragging things along. This week he did a very thorough update on monday which included a wider variety of items than are not discussed every day because there has been no change.

Loyal followers call him superman because he wars glasses that make him look like Clark Kent.

He is always on top of things, and doesn’t stretch the truth.

@Patty_Melt That’s nice.
So, are new stimulus checks in the works or not?

KNOWITALL's avatar

@kritiper There are a few proposals that include a $2,000 a month payment throughout the pandemic.
This article lines them out: https://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2021/07/12/stimulus-check-fourth-update-covid-pandemic-payment/

@KNOWITALL That’s nice, too. But I don’t do other sites highlighted here on this site. They take too long to download and I haven’t got all day…

KNOWITALL's avatar

@kritiper That’s why my original answer was No, which is a fact right now.

I’m still old school and prefer to not just give opinions without back up. :)

I provided fed the link because it is an ongoing source of information
You click, and subscribe, and then you have daily for updates, because as of now, there is no definitive answer. If you are too lazy to go through the link once, to have that go to for the future @kritiper, then go suck a pickle.
The site is here to provide information to more than just you.
As I said, I have been following this man more than a year. His information is accurate, and covers all the varied angles involved with the financial aid associated with covid. He gives a heads up for new programs, projected timelines, and access to deeper information.

What did the site say about the checks?

Patty_Melt's avatar

The very reason I linked, is because so far, nobody knows. There is lots of talk, and ongoing changes, and nothing is definite. There is no presumed amount, there might be fewer people getting checks, maybe one last check or possibly a boost, and then monthly smaller amounts. There is a lot to sort through, and that guy does a great job of breaking it all down. He doesn’t like to make guesses. He goes accordi g to theost reliable information he can access.

You can go to anyone’s home page on YT by clicking their icon appearing on any post. If you click the word videos, it will show a chronological menu for all their posts. If anybody has questions, watch his posts for the past week or two. He gives information coming from the IRS, and other sources for specific questions.
He answers questions about tax issues related to covid assistance, payments to children, assistance for mortgage and rental help, help for landlords, restaurant owners, small businesses, and so on. I posted that link because he is an ongoing resource, and any information I could share would be coming from him.

The hold up is not only about checks, but another bill which Joe says he wants finished before he will consider signing either. So, we are also waiting for infrastructure to be clearly defined so they know what they can toss out of that bill. Stephen sorts out all the details people want to know, makes it easy to understand, and seems genuinely concerned for people who are struggling.
He is a nice guy, with a nice family, discussing current financial news from his basement. He isn’t loud or preachy. If you check him out, you will like him.
He has lived in his car years ago, and knows what that is like.
He is a fan of things Trump has done, but he is not an activist. He tries to be fair about all sides, whether good or bad. I don’t follow him for political commentary, he does very little of it. I follow him for his financial knowledge.

Well this turned out much longer than I intended. Sorry.

I hope not.

Dutchess_III's avatar

We got ours today. $1400 each.

Patty_Melt's avatar

They didn’t do a fourth stimulus check. They are doing checks for kids, tax refunds, and some other stuff.
They haven’t even written the bill yet that might have a fourth, but they want to call it something else.
The third was $1400. Is that what you were waiting for? Cause dang, that is hella late.

Patty_Melt's avatar

I don’t understand not checking out my info guy. He is always straight facts and sometimes little known info.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It was our 4th one.

jca2's avatar

@Dutchess_III: If a 4th stimulus check wasn’t issued, then whatever you received was not a 4th stimulus check.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I set it aside.
It’s just odd that it was exactly $1400 each, which was the amount of all the other stimulus checks, and it came from the same source, the IRS.

Patty_Melt's avatar

IRS is way behind, and I bet temps have been hired big time. A mistake would not surprise me at all.
