Trucks that have large, powerful engines. Not those wimpy 5500 lb.Ford F-150’s that only have measly LITTLE V-6’s that are not much larger than the 2.4 liter IL4 that I have in my 1991 3000lb. Nissan pick-up.

Power only trucking means that the driver and tractor are what is being prokered, and NOT the load or the trailer.

@kritiper

F-150 Ecoboost V6 has 400 HP and 500 lb-ft of torque. That’s not a wimpy engine.

@Tropical_Willie But it needs a 10 speed transmission to do it! And horse power is always in the high RPM’s, not in the low RPM’s where the torque is, which comes via the torque converter with those high RPM’s. A very limited arrangement…

@kritiper Torque comes on @1800 RPM across the board because of the engine management system for turbo pressure, spark timing, fuel injection and variable valve timing. HP is always higher at higher RPM for any engine.

Torque what gets you down the road by acceleration, HP is only for top end speed to push you through the air.

I’ve been working on cars and car engines since I was 3 years old more than 70 years ago.
