Hello to you all,

It has been a really long time since the last time I logged on to fluther. I joined in 2011 and I’ve been more of a spectator more than an active member. But I do have to say, finding fluther was one of the best things that happened to me. Some of you here helped me through very rough times and part of who I am today is because of the advice I got.

I was in my early 20’s when I joined, and now that I am 30 and married, I just wanted to say thanks to you beautiful people for being so down to earth and having an impact on not just me, but so many others as well.

So, what does this site mean to you?

Fluther gives me meaning, is my home, and my watering hole. Also my grammar and writing style has improved since the first days as Talljasperman in 2009.

A lot of my friends are here – not necessarily people I’ve met in real life, but people who I consider friends just the same. Just knowing that we’re all here checking in gives a sense of community.

A lot of us are friends on FB, which adds another dimension to knowing each other from Fluther.

I started with Fluther in 2007 when my daughter was a newborn and I had fleas in the house. Researching the fleas is what brought me here. When I’m on the computer, Fluther is a large part of what I look at, as I am not on a lot of sites. It’s basically FB, Fluther, a little Instagram and checking email, and to a lesser extent, the NY Times and New Yorker.

I have developed real friendships here. I have met some of the people here in real life, and they are genuinely delightful. Importantly, I get valuable assistance from information I learn here.

I’m glad to know Fluther helped you. It’s helped me. I’ve changed greatly in the 12 years I’ve been here. Like you, I’ve taken some breaks from participation. The death of a beloved member and a serious illness of another brought me back, and I’ve stayed.

The pancakes are not to be missed.

Hi @Tbag – I remember you! Thanks for stopping by. Fluther is my online family complete with its own crackpot uncles. I don’t come here as much as I did in the past for emotional support but it was very helpful to me when my marriage broke up. Now it is a place where I enjoy flexing my mental muscles and communing with friends.

Fluther is a bar where we can swap stories, give perspective, share laughs, and enjoy the company of people who feel like family.
Back when I was in quarantine, it was a source of support and comfort.
I appreciate you all!

Perspectives that are not mine. A place to vent at times.

I also came here to learn perspectives outside my conservative, religious area.

Also Fluther lets my family sleep when I have burning questions about anything at night.

One of the few websites without wild, polarized viewpoints and nice people.
