I HATE beetles and (almost) all insects, ESPECIALLY June bugs! How do I get rid of June bugs and keep them away?

I HATE JUNE BUGS!!! They are from straight out of Hell and are the bane of my existence. I live in Saginaw Minnesota and whenever Spring and Summer come round I end up wanting to kill myself to escape the ungodly bugs! The last time I saw a June bug, I ended up having a massive panic attack and afterwards cried myself to sleep.

How do I keep myself as far away from these as possible?

There are these bags you can buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot that attracts the junebugs and traps them. Set them away from where you will be sitting outside.

Hopefully you can find some solace in that there are only two beatles left, and that they probably live about 4,000 miles away. ;)

@vimead1 IF you do trap them as @chyna suggests, you’re more than welcome to send them go Georgia. When I was a kid, we played with June Bugs for fun & amusement all summer long & it has been over 50 years since they disappeared from our area & I’d love to reintroduce them here!!!

Just wait until July, they won’t bug you so much.

I thought the Beatles were one of the best musical groups ever! How can you hate them?

You might think about spell-checking.

Beetles themselves are prettty benign insects. Leave them alone; they won’t bother you.

Try getting some coronavirus plants or bug deterrent. Another thing you could do it get a bug zapper and every morning put the dead bugs in a pile and let the wild birds eat them or if you have chickens you can give them the bugs. Our chickens love them.

Are your June Bugs the kind that are attracted to light at night? If yes then put a bright light away from your house and set up a running shop vacuum near it. In a few hours it will suck up an incredible number of the critters.
I used a shop vac to clear out a hornet nest in my garage concrete block foundation wall. I didn’t want to spray anything toxic and have them die inside since that would encourage ants. Instead, I put the shop vac near the entrance hole and let it do the work for a day.

The last time I saw a June bug,I ended up having a massive panic attack and literally cried myself to sleep.

Umm… I get hating bugs, but… is this a bit too much?

I really don’t want to say it, but if this literally happened to you, there may be some deeper issues you need to address.

I don`t know why but beetles are the one insect I am most afraid of. When ever I see one I try to run in the opposite direction, It doesn’t help that those things can fly.

This is what they look like where I live: https://oceanhero.today/images?q=minnisota+june+bugs

The only thing I hate about June bugs is that they are so damn clumsy, and they get tangled in my curly hair. I’m not scared of them tho. They can’t hurt me.

@vimead1 there is a difference between simply being afraid of bugs and getting a traumatic response just by seeing a bug. I’m scared of cockroaches. I would run away at the first sight of a cockroach. But I don’t have a panic attack just by seeing a cockroach, and when I’m sure I’m not near a cockroach, I’m normal again.

Are you just using hyperbole here or did you truly get a panic attack?

vimead1's avatar

I had a real true panic attack. And my parents make fun of me for it because they think that June bugs are cute, Sometimes I wish they were afraid of them too so they wouldn’t ignore me when I bring it up.

@vimead1 did you have a traumatic memory associated with June bugs?

Do you have anyone you can talk to, like a counselor? This could be more serious than you think.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It’s not very nice of them to laugh at you. I’m sorry. ((Hugs))

@Mimishu1995 I have quite a few traumatic moments with June bugs and other insects.
And as far as counseling goes I only have a school counselor but she only really specializes in my situation at home and my relationships with my friends and family.

I don`t have a legitimate therapist anymore as my parents stopped taking me to go see him.
