Do you think I'm being too sensitive?

“Great Question” (1points)

My friend and I were playing a game called killing floor 2. You fight waves of zombies then there is a boss at the end. Everyone died from the boss and I was the the only one left and had to fight the boss alone. I almost killed her but made a mistake and ran into a railing so she cornered me and killed me. My friend was like “ha! Moron…” it kinda got my blood boiling. Usually when she’s joking around, she says just kidding but she didn’t this time. She also calls dummy a lot when I make simple mistakes.

@Cindy1302 You got further than everyone and she still called you a moron. She sounds like a narcissist and a jerk, not a friend who says ‘great job, you’ll beat the boss next time.’

Just remember our friends are not mindreaders so if you want change, you have to communicate about it. Maybe say, when you call me names like moron it’s hurtful. If we are friends, please stop.

Absolutely. Online gaming is 80% about talking shit.

I agree with @KNOWITALL. I know that kinda talk would make me feel terrible and I may even hurt myself if it was to go on for a long time. You don’t need “friends” like that in your life.

Tell her the name calling is bothering you and ask her to please stop. Obviously, you played the game very well. Maybe she’s very insecure and putting down others makes her feel superior. It’s not nice.

It’s called talking smack in my day. It usually doesn’t mean anything and the other person usually expects a come back. I would’ve told her she’s talking big for a loser. It’s usually part of the gameplay. I think you may be too sensitive. But if it really does bother you, then tell this person it bugs you but know if this person is used to talking smack on games and isn’t insulted when someone smack talks them back then they may not want to play with you in the future. My daughter and son for years use to play that way with the friends. They talked smack when they were opponents and be supportive when they played as allies.

Now once in a while if they were doing well and one of their allies goofed up and cost them the advantage then things could get mean even among opponents but they always remained friendly. Now if someone got really ugly they they usually blocked the person from playing with them. Some people are very sore losers.

Shit-talking is part of gaming. If something so lukewarm as moron got your blood boiling, maybe gaming isn’t a good idea.

Do not tell her it bothers you when she calls you names, that will only make her laugh hysterically. When she’s done laughing, she’d most likely tell any and all mutual friends about it, and you would be an even bigger target.
In the real world it would be good advice to share your feelings with friends, but in the world of online gaming, ALWAYS keep your feelings to yourself.

Your best options would be to just slowly distance yourself from playing with her, or if you’re feeling bold, intentionally annoy the shit out of her until she no longer wants to play games with you (team kills, simple fails, play with your eyes closed & only talk about unicorns, etc).
