I’m with @janbb in that it’s NOT the money that keeps me from traveling. For me…I just don’t ENJOY traveling!!! My idea of traveling is getting on my computer & researching an area that I’ve never visited & enjoy the beautiful pics &/or videos!!!
My last boss before retiring had a family compound on Sanibel Island FL that he visited every year. He called me one day after I retired & asked what I was doing. I told him that I was sitting on the beach in Sanibel watching the waves crashing to the shore. He could hear the waves in the background. What I didn’t tell him was that I was sitting in my den watching a beach cam & I had a crashing waves .mp3 playing in the background. Looking at my computer screen wasn’t much different than looking out my hotel window & I was enjoying watching the kids romping on the beach!!! Many of the people walking by knew the cam was there, so they would stop for a second & then smile & wave into the camera. I always waved back & greeted them with a “Hey Bob & Carol, how are the kids“I have a GREAT imagination & I was enjoying my beach trip even MORE than IF I was really there as I’ve NEVER enjoyed the sand in my swimsuit!!!
When I find a good mountain place to visit, I have a babbling brook .mp3. That’s when I sit by the stream & listen to the relaxing sounds of the water!!! I also have several waterfall.mp3’s in different strengths, so no matter the fall I decide to visit, I have the sound effects to go with it!!!
Walking in beach sand isn’t very easy when only half your body works. Hiking in the mountains also presents challenges that’s MORE than I feel like conquering most days. So, I now lazy vacay whenever the mood strikes me!!!
