I did and I also chose California. I was living in Las Vegas, NV when I did the report. I lived in California for a few years before we moved to Nevada and we traveled to California at least twice a year for vacations. I loved the state.

I remember drawing a map of California on large poster board. I included mountains and all major cities. My mom held on to that poster board for years.

I did and I chose Massachusetts because it was so damn hard to spell!

I don’t remember doing a state report. I do remember in 5th grade learning where all 50 states were on the map (this was after 1959 obviously) and we had to memorize the capitals of all 50 states.

Although we lived in Vermont, I remember doing a report on Alaska because my dad was doing research there for a couple of summers. A babysitter drew the map for me – good artist. I can’t swear to it, but I think I still have the report. I remember being very proud because it seemed like it was long and involved, but I think it was just 4 pages plus the cover and back sheet made out of construction paper. LOL

Once. Mine was on New Hampshire, while I was in Washington.

I mainly remember an impression that it sounded like a likable enough place, and that the part by the coast sounded nice.

I’ve still never been to New Hampshire.

I never had to do a report like that. I learned the state capitals in 3rd grade, and I remember having a lot of fun going over them with my mother, until I knew them perfectly. We learned local history in 4th grade, and since I lived in California at the time, we learned all about the Spanish explorers and missionaries.

No. But I do remember in 7th grade we had to pick any country and do a report for Social Studies class.
I did mine on Egypt. I learned a lot during my research. I earned my A.

I was in California for fifth grade. I was assigned Mississippi. I glued cotton balls to the cover.

Nobody got Hawaii. Since Hawaii was the newest state, we spent two weeks on Hawaii and had a luau in class. Mrs. Renner was married to a man who had served in the Navy during the war and had been stationed in Hawaii. They bought a place on Oahu right after the war, and went there every year for vacation. The annual Luau in her class was the high point of fifth grade.

Yes. Pennsylvania. Because Hershey lived there. I did not and have never lived there.

@jca2 we learned about the Spanish explorers, too. Cortez, Ponce de Leon ect. I loved it. So romantic.

@Dutchess_III California has extensive curriculum on the Conquistadors in fourth grade. That’s when everyone makes a mission out of sugar cubes.
