I like Germany. I will even go as far as saying that Adolf Hitler sounds like an interesting socialite. Now with that said you can’t just ignore history. Naming your child Adolf Hitler is going to have some reprecussions. He no doubt was a manicle killer. He no doubt was a douchebag and deserves nothing more than spit on the floor when his name is mentioned. Now, even though we have all established a simple fact, this is America. Not Nazi Germany. I do not like that the Cambells are full of hate breed and shananagens (spelling?). I do support thier right to name thier child after whom ever they want. How many of you are named after family members or people your family admired? Morally wrong??? Sure it is and I am willing to bet I don’t agree with anything that family has to say about culture but I will support thier right to say it. God bless freedom of speech.

The guy’s an idiot. and more interested in his own ideologies than his children. It’s all good, if his kid has a single IQ point he’ll change his name as soon as he’s able, if not, more evidence that hate is bred into the next generation and he becomes the best example for teaching kids right and wrong we could ever ask for.

It’s too bad that dumbass was able to find the hole to procreate. I’m sure he will get his when his kids rebel and turn into super liberals and marry someone of a different race and hate their father. Poor kids. Not a credible news source since i guess it is gothamist but still. I guess on one hand you could name your kids what you want, cars, numbers, this guy just happened to want to name his child after one of the most hated men ever. It just doesn’t seem to give the child a fair shot in life.

Ignorance is clearly this man’s issue. As with any human, he obviously has the right to name his children whatever he wants. I believe in that freedom. I am just blown away that people still exist in our society with these ignorant, outdated ideas and predjudices. And I hate to think it but, the possibility of this father passing the torch to his son is pretty good. The kid will do one of two things: rebel, change his name, divorce his parents and eventually write a biography about how crazy his parents were and how he rose above it all, or become the next serial killer.
In New Zealand, a 9-year old girl became ward of the court because her parents named her (ready for this?) Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. She was able to legally change her name to avoid even further ridicule that she was experiencing. In my opinion, there is a fine line being crossed here, and it’s hard to say where the government should cross it. Luckily for Talula, she was able to change her name and hopefully create a better future for herself. Poor little Adolf may not have that option.

Just a quick note: the surname Hitler is still in use. I know a few Hitler’s in Milwaukee. While I don’t know any Adolph’s the Hitlers I know fare pretty well and don’t take much grief.

@ Sueanne Tremendous No offense to “The Hitler’s”, but I would honestly think about a name change. No matter how nice you are and even if you have no relation to Adolf Hitler you still could never change the meaning of your name (By meaning I mean how your name is looked upon such as the Hitler name being looked at with disgust).

Also, plenty of people named after certain other
so-called prophets or leaders but we will not blink
and eye because they are not White men.

good thing that in germany, names have to be approved by the state. naming a child adolf hitler would not be legally possible in germany.

Wasn’t the Volkswagen Hitler’s dream car, “The peoples car”, the working man’s car? Now it is a rather successful and popular vehicle.
People don’t seem to mind it’s history.
