I still remember the diaper pail from when my sister was a baby. I believe my mother had 24 cloth diapers (including a couple that were navy blue with big white spots) and 6 covers. She did a load of wash just about every day except when it was raining (she didn’t get a drier until my sister was almost 2 years old).
I also still recall the rich neighbors down the street who used a diaper service. Every few days a truck would come by to get the dirties and deliver a stack of clean ones.
When my kids were babies we typically went through about 8 diapers a day (we used disposable because of my memories of the diaper pail).
