video-games of course! Why would anyone want to have sex? I don’t get it…
ok, seriously? I’m sure that’s 72% in every country. And in any period (only it was backgammon or cards instead of video-games 100 years ago). First of all, if you’re monogamous, sex becomes routine after a while, so, even though you still want to do it 2–3 times a week, it’s normal that you also want to do other things. Now add to that the fact that nowadays women also have a say in when the sex occurs (after their favourite TV show, not on the days when they are too tired or not tired enough, and don’t forget to deduct the periods too). What you’re left with is a relationship where it’s too much hassle to beg for something that has become tedious anyway, with a wife/SO that you are often tired of and perhaps have a series of unresolved issues. And I haven’t even added kids to the equation.
When I was married, we had sex only 5 times in the last 22 months of our marriage. Granted, the last year or so we had problems, and towards the end we hardly spoke to each other, but even earlier, when things could have been much better, they weren’t. Most nights the reason was simply that my wife was watching all sorts of crap on TV. I either had to wait there and endure it until it ended (often hours later), at which point she’d just be tired, turn off the TV and go straight to sleep without even a goodnight kiss, or go and do some chores, which is what I ended up doing on a daily basis. By the time I was done, she’d be asleep, so I’d just turn on the PC.
So it’s not really as simple as “men prefer video games to sex”.
