An easier alternative to sewing is to use something like HEAT N BOND or any brand of iron-on stabilizer.
It’s basically a very thin layer of fabric glue sandwiched between two layers of special.
To use it you peel off one layer of paper and iron it to the back of an appropriately sized piece of black fabric. This then heat fuses it to the fabric.
Then cut out the two pieces as in the picture.
Then take off the other paper layer. Lay it on the spot desired on the hood and iron it again. All done.
Sort of similar to soldering except with fabric and glue rather than rather than two pieces of metal.
You can get these products at craft stores and if you go to Joannes they also carry fabric. One stop shopping.
