Wow. That’s just sad. You honestly think that if you don’t get drunk, you A) hate fun, and B) are a bore? Very, very sad. I feel sorry for you.

@syz beat me to it.

Apologize to my fellow flutherites for making an ass of myself the previous night (or laugh at the silly comments I made), eat a big breakfast and then take a nap.

Honest answer: My boyfriend just drinks lots of water if he drinks too much. He’s fine in the morning. Thankfully, I’ve only seen him drink a fair amount once, so I don’t know if this works every time.

Also remember that we fun-hating bores are only bores when you complain to us after a night of heavy drinking. You get no sympathy from me.

I don’t hate fun. I LOVE fun. And I DO drink. Just not to the point that I’m hung over the next morning. Getting that blitzed is pretty stupid.

I don’t drink.
But when I used to drink, I used to drink kefir for hangovers.

From what I understand a hangover is caused by dehydration/toxins. When I drank in college years back, I’d drink plenty of water while drinking, I’d set a cup of water and Tylenol on my bed stand, then I’d set my alarm clock for a half-hour before I was going to wake up, take the Tylenol drink the water and go back to sleep when I woke up I felt great.

Hair of the dog.

I hate when people are judgmental, on both sides of the table. Is that statement judgmental?

Drink half a gallon of water before going to bed.

Take midol before you go to sleep. It works. It’s not just for girls

When I used to drink mixed drinks, I always drank those with a citrus base. I also drank a big glass of water and took several Vitamin C pills and two aspirin before going to bed (not Tylenol – it puts more stress on your liver, which is already stressed by the alcohol).

Now my solution is not to drink. It works better than anything else I have tried and it makes watching the drinkers so much more amusing.

BTW, Midol won’t help the dehydration – it contains a mild diuretic, so it will only make it worse.

@Darwin: Since I have a boyfriend and can no longer make out indiscriminately with people at parties, I mostly go to mess with the drunk people, though I try not to be too cruel.

Tons of water before you go to bed and a couple of vitamin B12s. Lately I’ve been popping a few ‘Chasers’ (supposed hangover prevention pill) and they seems to work ok. The best idea, if you know you will undoubtedly imbibe a fair share, is to have a glass of water after each alcoholic beverage. You wont get prematurely trashed and stand a far better chance of feeling relatively good the next day.

I don’t recommend ‘hair of the dog,’ and strongly discourage it if you are approaching 30 or older. It’s a bad cycle to get in.

@peedub: Wait, was that a serious response? I gave it a GA because it gave me a chuckle…

Sampson's avatar

@peedub I believe chasers are b12…

Water before bed and pickle juice in the morning. You read that right. Pickle juice.

Aspirin helps too.

A Dextrose IV and oxygen. By the time the bag is empty you are good to go. Sometimes just a hit or two of Oxygen will take care of things. Push fluids and a half-strength Gatorade will help with the dehydration.

majorrich's avatar

OOPS should be saline, likely you will have urinated a mess-o-salts during the binge.

Of course if you could do 500ml of both you would get a pick-me -up and re hydrated in one fell swoop.

No sweet drinks = No hangovers

As much water as possible, B-12 sub-linguals, taken preferably before each drink, if you know you are going to drink in excess. Take a gram Vitamin C and Magnesium, it definitely won’t hurt you, but could make you sit on the bus a little longer than you would anyways. Also, try Taurine-why do you think it is in so many energy drinks, or why people like Jag Bombs so much.
And as a last resort, as Jack Nicholson said to the ghost bartender in the movie “The Shining”, “give me a little hair of the dog that bit me, Lloyd”.

My friend drinks Pedialyte and says it works.
