How do I deal with jealous co workers?

“Great Question” (2points)

I went through a difficult career patch over a period of years, and am happy to say that I am currently doing very well at work.

This month I came first in our region. The point of this question is though, that my co workers are treating me badly in the following ways. Being ignored, making jokes about me, whispering a lot. Three guys that are sitting together, keep saying my name, for no reason. Over and over. Last night I received a “prank” call, the speaker saying he got my number from an escort agency site? He called five times and said the exact same words. The number was hidden. Then he asked me what line of work was I in? Today one of the guys, whom keeps repeating my name said out of the blue, he keeps getting calls from an undisclosed number and they just keep silent. He blurted this out of the blue? Is this odd? I mean tie in? As I went to work as per normal and did not mention it.

I feel pretty angry about this, and feel something should be done, but what?

Who cares about stuff people say that they don’t have the balls to say to your face?
and
You are being paid to do a job, and you do it well. You aren’t being paid to be liked.

wha??? this is a work place??? what a pizza shop? thats harassment don’t they have hr there? complain

@mowens very true, but I am annoyed and they should just get away with it?

You need to get each one alone and tell them a thing or two.If they keep harrassing you, talk to your superior.

That sucks. If you participate and seek revenge it will increase. Not only that, but they;ll gang up on you and get you for “hostile workplace.” Document the problem and inform the supervisor. You’re in a hostile workplace.

@lucillelucillelucille I can handle the ignoring plus the name repeating ( but what is that?) but anyway, you think I can prove it though?in that the one guy said that out of the blue I have no proof

trailsillustrated's avatar

he’s wrong. @elvislennon is right, document it. you’ll have proof

That will usually happen in competition world. Warn them back that you know who they are and you’ll sue them if they keep doing that.

@Doctor_D I actually wish I had asked in my question why they keep repeating my name over and over? what is the goal of that? I normally quip “thank you for reminding me hourly I forget” but to be honest, I’d like to know what it’s end is

trailsillustrated's avatar

just to trip you out, mess with your head. it’s harassment and cruelty. that’s what the name thing is

life_after_2012's avatar

thats harrasment. you do not have to put up with that.

Try your damndest to be number one in your region every damn month.

Seriously, these are grown adults?

If one of them is top in the region one month or ever gets recognized/awareded for anything, give them a sincere smile and congratulations. Maybe they will realize how childish they have been and can learn manners by example… but I don’t hold out much hope for this group.
