I’m at the spot where I’m doing what I know how to do but what I do isn’t very fulfilling and I’d like to do something else.

I was a child of privilege in the 1940’s and ‘50’s. It never occurred to me that I could have a “career”. I thought I would have the same “work” my mother had: driving a green station wagon in order to transport a golden retriever, a few children who had to be taken to the beach every day in the summer, and a regular babysitter between her parents’ house and mine. I may have understood that a husband would have to be acquired, but I didn’t think about that.

I actyally never had a dreamjob or -profession as a child.
And since i have no profession still, i guess you could say that i wounded up with something that i didn’t have then either.

Not at all. I’m borderline flatfooted and used to hate walking any distance. I never would have thought I’d end up carrying mail for a living. Growing up I wanted to be an illustrator or an animator.

I am starting High School this year in August, so I wouldnt call myself grown up. And my dreams of being something when I grow up have changed alot since I moved to Iceland when I was 12 years old.

technically no, i have never been in outer space so i failed at becoming an astronaut. but when i was 12 i decided i wanted to make websites, and thats what i do now. so i guess i did get what i wanted. however, having said that… i was never an astronaut, a fireman, a lawyer or a clown. so its not exactly my first choice.

We all evolve and our goals and desires change. Am I (at 24) doing what I (at 8) thought I would be doing? Absolutely not.

Am I (at 24) doing what I (at 24) love doing? Abso-fuckin-lutely! Couldn’t be in a better place that helps me balance my desires to leave work every day knowing I made some positive difference in people’s lives while compensating me well enough to financially take care of my family.

Yes, I fulfilled my dream by the time I was 26 or so. Which sounded far too late at the time.

I’ve moved to other things since.

I wanted to be a stewardess, I stopped growing. I wanted to go into advertising but didn’t want to live in Toronto. I don’t like most children so no teacher. I went to nursing school. I was lucky enough to stay home with my kids and turned into a regular little hausfrau, then back to nursing. I’d love to own a bookstore in a smaller town by the ocean with a little cafe in it.

All through my childhood, I had a fascination with aviation and I always wanted to be a commerical airline pilot. Life had a different plan for me though and I ended up being a career military member instead and it is something that I have never regretted.

I still have a desire and a plan to work on getting a private pilot’s license at some point and I’ve never lost my love of and fascination for aviation so that’s a good thing too.

I didn’t really think about it much as a child. So, I didn’t have expectations to live up to. Like most kids, I would at times says I wanted to be a XXX or a XXX, but it was never a real desire.

In 5th grade I had a bunch of my art displayed on the walls at the superintendent’s office. I also designed all the flyers for class fuctions and what not. I once drew the California flag blindfolded. I thought for sure I was going to be an artist. HA!
