I tend to give answers that are probably perceived as serious. I think that’s because I find writing serious answers fun, and I derive enjoyment and satisfaction from it. Sometimes “fun” might not be the right word to use, but if I’m answering a serious and/or challenging question, I find the mental exercise of thinking about it, and the communication exercise of trying to express myself coherently, really enjoyable and satisfying, even if the subject matter itself is serious.
I also tend to be reasonably selective about the questions that I respond to, because I find myself drawn to and more interested by the more serious ones. I don’t want to be at all rude to the internet and everyone on it, but I tend to not really find a lot of stuff on the internet very funny, at least not in a laugh-out-loud kind of way… I’m not sure why this is, as I have a perfectly normally functioning sense of humour! Don’t get me wrong, I do read funny things, but I guess that my primary reason for coming to this website isn’t really to be made to laugh, although I can still find it really enjoyable without necessarily finding it humourous.
Also, when I am at home, I am even more selective about answering questions, since my boyfriend cannot stand the sound of typing, and therefore, if I want to type anything longer than a web address, one of us has to leave the room. This is not fun!
