No. We already lost some space when the chat room switched from Campfire to a native chat room. Avatars would probably mean each line would take up more space to accommodate the picture. I think Fluther names are identification enough.
No because it can give an idea of what you look like towards other people, and also there might be people in the chatroom that you dont know and don’t like, so why give them an idea of what you look like. Plus they take too long to create.
@Arisztid I doubt that. The icons are a whopping 4kb in size on average. It takes no time for them to load into cache and once they’re there… They won’t slow things down.
@silverfly It was pretty much the same layout, but the chat box where it shows what people are saying was bigger, so more of the conversations showed up. It was really nice when the convo was moving fast and each line was getting pushed further up the screen. The bigger space meant you didn’t have to scroll up as often to see what you missed.
@Allie Gotcha. I thought of campfire as a kind of circular layout. That could be cool in theory, but I don’t think it would be programmatically possible.
