I don’t remember calling them “mommy” and “daddy”, just “mom” and “dad”. My son stopped calling me “mommy” about 2 years or so ago, though he has said it on occasion when he was really sick or hurt.
I am twenty-one years old and still address my parents as “mommy” and “daddy”. In writing and formal conversation, I refer to mommy as “mum” and daddy as “dad”.
I guess I stopped at a pretty young age because I don’t really remember saying anything other than ‘mom’ and ‘dad’. Sometimes I would say ‘mother’ pronounced muuthurrr or ‘father’ pronounced faathurr when I wanted to cock an attitude, but that’s about it.
I call my dad “daddy,” but I do it in a weird way. I kind of drop off the second d and the last long e sound of the Y so it sounds like I’m saying “da-aye.”
I still call my dad “daddy”. My mom is “mum” unless I want something, and then she’s “mommmmyyyy.” I’m not sure when I stopped calling her “mommy” on a regular basis – but I can speculate it was probably when I was 13 and learned my parents were getting a divorce since that was the start of our relationship pretty much ending until I was 18.
Didn’t stop. I still call them that, though I usually use “mom & dad.” @SundayKittens my mom hates being called “mother” because it reminds her of that movie.
I stopped as a preteen… maybe around 11 years old. My kids tried to stop when they entered middle school, but just couldn’t do it. They are now 16, 15, and almost 13, and they still call us mommy and daddy. They say they’ll never stop.
Sis and I still use ‘daddy’ when talking about him amongst ourselves. I think ‘mommy’ got shortened to ‘mom’ as a pre-teen. How do mothers instinctively know their child’s scream for “MOM!” from all of the other children’s in a store?
