What are some common things that anyone could sell on eBay?

Asked by simone54 (7642points) December 28th, 2009

I, like many others, need some extra cash. Does anyone have good idea of things that most could sell on eBay?

Doesn’t everything sell on ebay?

You can’t sell real designer handbags due to copyright and trademark infringement.
Go to ebay and start plugging in different items in the search engine. Click completed listings to the left of the page and you will see what similar items sold for recently. And what price they sold at.
Old things you can pass as antiques like glass doorknobs sell well.
Homemade crafts if they strike the fancy.

@Kelly_Obrien um, yea, you can sell designer handbags. They have a huge sections just for designer purses. There are over 22,000 Coach item for sale on ebay right now.

I paid a good portion of my way through college going to yard sales and then listing my finds on Ebay.

I would choose smaller items (easier and cheaper to ship) and looked for collector things such as old tools, license plates, vintage stuff.

I got my own postal scale and free priority boxes from the post office to ship.

Look for things to sell that are unusual and cannot be purchased in stores anymore.

@Violet: I bought a ‘coach’ on ebay awhile back. Just took it to my local coach store as the lining was falling apart. yep, that’s what you get when you buy a knock off, only I certainly did not pay a ‘knock off’ price!

You can check out the thrift stores and buy what is reasonable, then list on eBay. Tupperware is a good one: people looking for replacement parts. Children clothing, especially ‘name’ brands: Gymboree, Janie & jack, etc. Silverware sells.

@SherriS you should have asked for the ID, and then look up that ID. Also, ask if it is 100% guaranteed authentic. If they say yes, and you end up getting a fake, you can contact ebay and the seller (one of them will give you a refund)
@Kelly_Obrien go to ebay, go to help, click on rules for everyone, search for Search and browse manipulation policy, and read What are the guidelines. It gives the specific rules for selling designer handbags

If you are a bit crafty, you can try selling your crafts on etsy. You can also try selling them on ebay. If you know how to knit, KnitPicks has some great, cheap yarn that can be speedily knit or crocheted into sell-able items.

used DVD’s. (Especially TV series.) and video games. Ebay makes it easy because they already have pictures and descriptions.

I agree with Judi – CDs are great too. Also, craft supplies. For instance if you see a yarn or something on clearance in a craft store buy it, put it on ebay and you’ll easily get your money back. I’m always looking for certain things. Old ashtrays are great and there’s not a ton of them on there. Also new items that you might be tempted to regift. Sell them on ebay instead. And if you have some clothes you’re no longer into and that have been gently worn – you’ll get a lot more on ebay than you would a rummage sale!

Yeeeah, I found that few Nintedno Gamecube games I own were kinda of rare. I didn’t get a bid yet but it seems like they sell pretty well.

I also found my old Lap Top that didn’t have a HD. It’s up now.

I also just acquired a few designer handbags. Does anyone know if they will allow me to sell them?

Judi's avatar

Yes, but you should take lots of pictures, especially of any flaws, ans disclose exactly where you got them. Something like,
“My Mother bought this at Nordstrom and she used it for 2 months, There is a minor stain in the lining and one sequin has fallen off.”

Or:
“I bought this at a garage sale. I have no idea of it’s original purchase location it has XXX flaws, as shown in the pictures. ”
