What colors do you wear when you are trying to impress ( and what impression are you trying to make)

“Great Question” (4points)

I am hooked this weekend on talk shows and the outfits the guests wear. I am now pondering the different outfits people wear in order to convey an impression, most especially the color.

Do you ever find yourself building an outfit around color? What do you mean to communicate with your choice?

I wear gray when I want to impress, but I never do. I wear Levi’s most waking hours.

Lately it’s anything but yoga pants when I want to dress up. Living in two places is making it hard to even FIND my clothes. Usually what I want is a 9 hour drive away. On top of that I am in the process of losing my Christmas pounds and nothing really fits well. Color is the least of my worries.
When I DID worry I wore navy blue to impress in business and red to impress in the evening. (Sometimes black.)

Sometimes red.

Mostly when picking my

Tie… red for active, blue for reliable.

Suits… mostly grey or dark to show business mindset.

Shirt… most often white, sometimes pink to upset my colleaugues. (They truly get uneasy!)

Weekends… Any short, flipflops and t-shirt will do.

I always wear black. It’s a sleek, slimming color and looks official.

It all depends on the circumstances and my mood. Sometimes it’s don’t-mess-with-me red. Sometimes it’s please-take-care-of-me blue. Sometimes it’s don’t-pigeonhole-me purple. If I have to give a presentation, lead a workshop, or meet with a new client, I won’t dress as I would if I were having a performance review, a root canal, or a meeting with a financial advisor.

You’ll rarely see me in gray, you’ll practically never catch me in pink, and you won’t get me into beige even for coffin attire.

I suppose I’d wear black if I want to impress. I just see it as the most sophisticated and professional colour. Plus it goes well with most any other colour.

Black with either turquoise or bright red. My eyes and smile do the rest.

Lately I like Royal Blue, lately I have worn it to an interview, to a play, and even to the gym. Different clothes, but it makes me feel calm and noteworthy at the same time. I know it is a striking color on me so that gives me confidence.

Before the color was most often lime green. It caught people’s eye was bold and cheerful and showed off my slight and tan and freckles off well, it reminds me of trees which make me feel alive and happy.

I also like a deep subdued purple or a soft lilac it to me it conveys respect, mystery, intrigue and creativity.

A dusty rose hue or a darker raspberry takes the place of red for me. Occasionally I can pull off a true red but it depends on the lighting and how pale I am. It doesn’t radiate sex the same way.

Black is my sexy, sexy. And as far as neutrals go. I can always pull off Dark Brown. I feel very earthy, efficient and practical in these dirty colors. Creamy browns of all shades are soft comfort.

Grey is a hard one for me, white only works when I am “tan” and I haven’t ever tried gold.

I too love red but if the appointment was an interview or something like that, I would probably just wear a little red.

I also like black or navy or grey. I would usually wear something with some colour too though.

For a suit or business skirt/pants, I’d choose grey, navy or black. Almost always paired with a jewel toned color, like emerald or a strong, deep purple for a shirt. I’m trying to convey “I’m serious, but have a bit of flair. Also, doesn’t this color look good on me?” Seriously, though, I do choose colors that make me look my best, whether for business, a night out, or a wedding. Pretty much any shirt I wear for any occasion other than every day attire will be a jewel tone. It just works with my hair and skin, and looking good gives me an extra boost of confidence.

In my every day world, my clothes are jeans and navy or green shirts, with an occasional purple or raspberry thrown in.

I look simply stunning in a pink onesy & matching sneakers.
I’m playing the charismatic eccentric with classic good looks, but is very much in tune with his feminine side…it’s a look I wear well.

All colors and textures can present a different facet. Red is a power color that I wear when needed. I wear gray and black on occasion, peaceful. I do a lot of brown/ white combo’s, which are nice but not flamboyant. I have a lovely royal blue blouse that I sometimes pair with a brown faux-fur vest and brown pants, that comes across as business/ fun/ glamour. All kinds of different looks for different days, events.

I don’t wear anything.

Black and white to present myself as serious and somewhat classic in style. Not a very color-oriented person in clothing.
