Depends what the source material says. It’s fiction, so people writing stories, making movies, games, anime or cartoons decide.
Personally I enjoy the Christian Vampires as I call them. Basically the classical vampire who is bound by God. The kind you read about in old stories from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, romantic vampires from the Victorian era and whatnot.
And I don’t think all vampires are evil. For example, Alucard, Dracula’s son from Castlevania Symphony of the Night has a healthy relationship with God, even if he’s a vampire. Wll he’s actually a dampyl, which is half human half vampire, but still.
I don’t even think Dracula was all that ’‘evil’’, rather than very lost and angry. Although feeding babies to his succubi was a dick move haha.
As for viruses and the like, I prefer this with things like lycanthrope or zombies. That doesn’t fit too well with a vampire in my opinion.
I wasn’t bashing God or anything if that’s what you’re worried about. It’s all stories and fiction to me, and I enjoy it. Has zilch to do with my actual religious views or standpoints.
