I just picked up and moved a couple of days ago. I expect to be away for minimum of 4 weeks.
1 Bag containing a new, vacuum-packed, five-pack of boxers, an extra pair of goretex cargo pants, two extra goretex cargo shirts, 2 pair of socks, sailing gloves, wash cloth, towel, maybe a couple of books, a pair of canvas deck shoes, a pair of swim trunks, 2 cotton T-shirts, a net ditty bag for laundry and 1 three-foot cable lock. On top is always a container of hi-cal dehydrated food.
In one end pocket a toiletry kit bag containing toenail cutters, toothpaste, toothbrush, deo, comb, extra reading glasses, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. In the other end pocket is a headlamp for reading, small maglite, electrical adapters, converters, extra charger for phone and extra reading glasses and one of these. The front pocket contains an larger electric outlet strip, an extension cord, 1 18-inch laptop cable lock and one four foot cable lock for bikes or bags.
1 Shoulder Bag for laptop contains 2 laptops, chargers for laptops and phone, small USB keyboard light, USB cords, small electric outlet strip, 1 terabyte harddrive, flash drives, ear buds, small screwdriver set, small sketchbook, pens, pencils and small sketching stuff, paperwork, extra reading glasses, extra sun glasses and maybe a paperback.
Wallet, phone and passport are buttoned away in my breast pockets at all times. Booney hat. Sunglasses. Cargo pants and shirt. Flipflops.
Anything else I need I can buy on site. Cash is my friend. It has no bulk, is lightweight and can be traded for anything anywhere at anytime.
That’s it. Not very elegant, I know, but I’m comfortable, have everything I could possibly need and can move far and fast at a moment’s notice..
As for furniture, an air mattress for a bed, or a yoga mat, a folding chair and table serve as a desk setup, and cheap camping equipment serves as kitchenware. Coleman stove. A ½-gallon plastic milk bottle slipped over a 60 to 100 watt bulb serves as excellent general lighting. And everything can all be left behind if need be.
