I saw a video where the host said something to the effect that the women were at fault, because they didn’t wave back.

It’s completely absurd, of course. But nothing even surprises me anymore.

Stories like this make me feel sad and ashamed. I know some of the people who make mistakes like this are scared and acting out of fear, but multiplying the fear and spreading it helps no one. Somehow at present such displays of naked racism seem to be getting worse without ever having gotten better first.

I have no words to react on this.

Should I be surprised?
Because I am not.

In the age of Trump, racists feel empowered.

Same as I feel about Nordstrom Rack calling the police about three kids who were shopping.

Anyone who denies structural racism in the US is oblivious to reality.

One time Jerry and I were at a club. I’d had a bit much to drink and got pissed off over something and walked out on him. He came after me. The next thing I know we are flat surrounded by cops! I was shocked and scared and moved behind Jerry for protection. Cops verified that everything was OK and then left. However, one told me, “We saw a black man running after a white woman. You see the problem?”
I wanted to say, “So if it had been a white man chasing me you just look the other way?”

I didn’t say anything. I figured I’d gotten us in enough trouble.
