They’re all in a safe in my dad’s office at home. I don’t have the code to the safe, though. Only my parents do.

At home. I used to use a bank safe deposit box, but about 10 years ago I decided that nothing I had was that crucial, and anything official (house deed, car title) could be replaced if I had to.

I don’t have any jewelry to speak off, so that wasn’t a concern either.

I used to have a safe deposti box but it cost $90 per year and was a pain to get to. I bought a Sentry Fireproof Safe for about $250 and that works well. Having it in the house is convenient.

Fireproof safe at home, we used to have a safety deposit at the bank but the branch closed earlier this year, cost was $70 for the year.

I have a small fireproof safe inside my fireproof gun safe.

I just looked and see that Home Depot and Lowe’s both carry Sentry safes. A 2 cubic foot unit is about $250.
Once you have it you will find all sorts of important things to put inside: deeds, wills, passports, titles to cars, kids’ baby books, letters from grandparents, etc.

@Caravanfan The safe is bulky and easily weighs over 100 pounds. If you get one, have them load it into your car and ask a friend to help you unload. Don’t be a hero.

In an accordion style folder in my nightstand.

The very few physical artifacts I worry about are my passport and passport card, Social Security card, birth certificate and auto title. I have also have an accordion folder for them.

Also there’s the stuff in my wallet like drivers license and bank cards.

I also take pictures/scans of everything and store it on my computers. With cloud backup (Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive) I can retrieve a copy almost anywhere I have an Internet connection.

The physical documents aren’t that important. They’re rarely needed. Having copies at hand is immensely useful.

No, I am not worried about my data getting stolen. 1) It’s all encrypted and 2) My identity is not worth stealing.
