The short answer is no. Our university is generally closed. I don’t have a key to my building (which is a non-issue, generally). I have been put on an essential personnel list, which means that I have a letter from University administration that informs police that I have permission to be on campus and to please not arrest me, although this may be a non-issue now that the stay-at-home order is over. There is never housekeeping in my building, but there is no garbage removal and the building is uninhabitably cold, meaning that the AC is probably left unchecked since it is much, much warmer outside. When in the office, I had to bring a blanket and heater to work for 2 hours and left with numb fingers because it was so cold. Plants left behind are mostly dead. If needed, I could ask my supervisor to meet me at the building to let me in.

As I said in the other Q, I heard we have a rat problem in an adjacent office building I often am in. I hear they are much more bold and obvious now that people have not been in the offices. There will also be the need to clean up rat droppings, as there is no housekeeping happening.

There is another nearby building that has a person manning the front door, so I would use that building if I needed to go on campus to print a large report.

No. And because we have re-opened our trading floor, showing up without approval from the corporate head of HR would be a firing offense.

I have no work needs to go into the office; the corporation has made many accommodations to work from home. If I had an urgent need of some personal item left at work (which should not have been left in the office) I would need permission from very high levels of the Corporation, and then would be escorted by security for a short visit to my desk, followed by rapid departure.

There are employees at my job that are going in, sporadically, according to what their supervisors request (demand). I can go to my job if I want to. If I needed to get something or wanted to use the copiers, or just had an urge to be at work, I could. I have my own office, and I have ID which gets me in the back door 24/7. I am very happy not being at work and anything that is at work, I can buy or I have at home, or I would just deal with not having.

If I showed up at work unexpectedly, my boss would be surprised but it wouldn’t be a problem that I was there.

I have my own business-sized, plain envelopes at work. I needed some at home, so today in Walmart I just bought a box. I have a book with passwords at work, and I have a similar book at home. When I go back to work, I will have to take the password book from home so I can transcribe the newest passwords into the book at work.

@JLeslie No, these are for my own personal stuff. The plain ones I have at work are for my personal stuff, too. If I have to send someone a check or something, like for an insurance co-pay or something, I use my envelopes and stamps. They’re only about 1.50 a box.
