What is your all-time favorite horror film?

“Great Question” (3points)

My favorite is “The Innocents“ from 1961, based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.

Gorgeously shot in black and white, the CinemaScope and intricate sound design really adds to the mood and atmosphere of the film. It’s one of the most unsettling films I’ve ever seen and creeped me out for days.

What’s yours?

Wow. There have been a few. When I was a kid, I saw The Spiral Staircase and it scared me pretty good. I think it was the 1961 version. But more recently, The Conjuring either parts one or two were pretty good. I also liked Darkness Falls and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Both of those were pretty creepy.

Oh, so many.
But I’m going to go with Cabin in the Woods.

I’m not sure if it counts, since it’s not a film, but a 10-episode Neflix TV-Series, but The Haunting of Hill House was absolutely incredible.

@RedDeerGuy1

This is a really funny stand up bit about the movie.

“Masque of the Red Death” 1962. Always liked those cheesy Vincent Price cheapos. Great fun at a drive in. :-)

I actually just watched House on Haunted Hill for the first time. Really cheesy but still entertaining

gorillapaws's avatar

@rockfan The original? Or the recent series?

rockfan's avatar

The one from 1959, directed by William Castle. The recent series is The Haunting of Hill House, which isn’t related to House on Haunted Hill
