Trump is a “Spin Doctor”; you don’t need a plan just . . . blah blah . . more lies.

He said it more than once “It is what it is” about the pandemic.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Not one bit surprised. I’m amazed he could summon the sense to roll out of bed.

LadyMarissa's avatar

NOT surprised at all!!! We all know that the virus doesn’t exist because it is a dem hoax. You don’t need a vaccine for a illness that doesn’t exist. How else could 45 screw Biden without leaving behind a mess???

KNOWITALL's avatar

He planned on distribution via National Guard units in local areas, last I heard.

Demosthenes's avatar

The Trump administration deserves credit for quick production of the vaccine, but distribution doesn’t seem to have been well thought out, instead left to the states. (California, for example, is really failing at it so far).

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@KNOWITALL “distribution via National Guard units in local areas” sources please.. Loli’s source is pretty good.

Trump had – -Nada – - – zip – - – - – - – - zero plans.

(Duplicate due to Fluther saying it failed and to try again.)

@Demosthenes “The Trump administration deserves credit for quick production of the vaccine…”
– Yeah, no. No it doesn’t. The companies that made the vaccines deserve credit for that. What Trump deserves, is to be remembered as recommending Easter 2020 as a great time, lying that it was very special to him to try to gain points with the stupidest Christians, to fill the churches and re-open the country to contagion.

“We’re opening up this incredible country. Because we have to do that. I would love to have it open by Easter,” Trump said.

“I would love to have that. It’s such an important day for other reasons, but I’d love to make it an important day for this. I would love to have the country opened up, and rarin’ to go by Easter.”

In a second interview with Fox that aired Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he offered the holiday as a deadline because “Easter’s a very special day for me.”

“Wouldn’t it be great to have all the churches full?” Trump asked. “You’ll have packed churches all over our country … I think it’ll be a beautiful time.”

(Re-entering my original answer, since the site is badly lagging for me and it seems to have gotten lost:)

As someone who has understood Trump to be a flaming self-centered lying manipulative scumbag since long before the election, I was not surprised at all.

Yellowdog's avatar

Trump instigated the plan. He is the reason the vaccines were created/discovered and distributed. If Trump had no plan, there would be no distribution,

The National Guard was responsible for getting the vaccine(s) out. They seem to be available everywhere now—but there are some really restrictive regulations on who gets the vaccine first, and some of it has even gone to waste because some people cannot be vaccinated yet even though they want the vaccine,

Quit blaming Trump == he is the reason we have a vaccine, and I can assure you, if there was no plan, there would be no distribution.

Duh.

Biden has no plan of his own that wasn’t already in place.

hello321's avatar

Someone frame this @Yellowdog tweet. Holy shit.

My favorite parts:

“He is the reason the vaccines were created/discovered and distributed. If Trump had no plan, there would be no distribution,”

“he is the reason we have a vaccine, and I can assure you, if there was no plan, there would be no distribution.”

:)

Listen people, the world had decided to not create a vaccine. But Trump declared, “We must have a vaccine. Please create one. I’ll be right there.” He put on his diaper and joined the scientists in the lab where he created the vaccine.

Zaku's avatar

@Yellowdog “Trump instigated the plan. He is the reason the vaccines were created/discovered and distributed. If Trump had no plan, there would be no distribution,”
– It’s painful to think that people actually would think that was the case.

Pfizer: “Hmm, if only someone had an idea about what to do about this whole pandemic thing.”

Trump: “Has anyone tried injecting bleach?”

Pfizer: “Oh, that goodness that Donald Trump suggested we maybe try to develop a vaccine! We never would have thought of that idea without the brilliant leadership of self-obsessed ape-tard scumbag Donald Trump! All credit really goes to him! Good thing he’s president! Wow, if anyone else were president, no one would ever have thought to try to make a vaccine!”

WTAF?

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Demosthenes Other than Cali doing a poor job (shocker), why do you believe it’s not a good plan for the National Guard to distribute in the states?
What would be a better plan for distribution?
I know our state is simply running out.

I mean, maybe I’m missing something here, but the Maryland governor and other’s called in the guard for delivery.

Pennsylvania seems to be working pretty well, from what I’ve read.
https://www.pa.ng.mil/Site-Management/News-Article-View/Article/2128076/pa-national-guard-operation-covid-19-summary/

Yellowdog's avatar

@Zaku Trump did not say ” Has Anyone Tried Injecting Bleach.”

As far as I know, the only block to vaccine distribution has been regulations on who gets it when, which has greatly slowed the process.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Did you see a medical health care plan from Tangerine make-up * NO* !

Did anyone see a vaccine distribution plan NO !

Do you know he can’t plan YES !

Tropical_Willie's avatar

“As far as I know, t” yuppers once again you are the only person with the truth ! SMDH

Dutchess_III's avatar

I think he did it deliberately. Final nose thumb at Americans, and he thinks it make Biden look bad.

si3tech's avatar

Even Fauci said cnn LIED. He did indeed have a plan.

mazingerz88's avatar

Four years of Trump showing his real face to the world and still people think he deserves any credit re this pandemic that raged under his watch. 400K dead.

He did everything to downplay this deadly disease, this douche bag who was in charge occupying the White House, pretended he actually cared while he clearly believed American deaths ruined his chances at re-election…and still you give him credit?

You Trump fans are pure nuts. I’m glad that at this point it seems your political future seems bleak.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@mazinger You think Round 1 was bad, wait until the mutating virus overseas hits us under Biden.

mazingerz88's avatar

^^No challenge Americans can’t meet when united and guided by good American leaders.

I thought there were federal contracts with CVS and Walgreens to vaccinate long term care facilities.

There obviously were allocations sent to each state, wasn’t that something done at the federal level? Who decided how many vaccines each state would have?

States knew they had to have at least one location with deep freeze facilities for the Pfizer vaccine. Was that information not given to the states from fed?

My state has tried several different ways to get the vaccine out. Started off really rocky, and is still difficult, but improving here and there. If there had been one single plan all states were using that might have meant one bad plan, states having some flexibility isn’t terrible, but definitely some states needed guidelines.

Let’s remember at the federal level they have already changed who should get the vaccine first, now recommending the decisions Florida and Texas had made regarding 65 and up before some essential workers. That’s not Trump, that’s health officials. I don’t think Trump tried to second guess the recommendations.

Now, things are changing regarding second doses.

Biden says he will set up 100 sites for vaccinating people around the country. Seems like a drop in the bucket. Take a very populated and large state like FL, NY, MI, TX, GA, PA, I mean what’s that going to be? 3 locations in each of the states I named? FL needs 50. I made up that number, but I’m serious. It will help to have 2–3 more large locations as long as we get vaccine to give out.

My governor set up a mobile covid-testing bus early on to get tests to people who have a difficult time getting to locations and I think there should be mobile vaccine buses too.

Honestly, I see some incompetence regarding logistics in many places, but obviously some work was done, because as soon as Pfizer could be brought in there were teams ready to handle the temperature needs of Pfizer as it came through distribution channels. Also, state locations practiced giving vaccines before they had the actual vaccines.

Zaku's avatar

@Yellowdog Yeah, I was paraphrasing. What he actually said was:

“And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful.”

Now, I know it’s pretty hard to tell when talking about Trump’s words and actions, whether one is quoting him, or inventing other nonsensical ridiculousness, but that’s not the point.

The point is that you claimed Trump could claim some responsibility for causing companies that research vaccines, to um, research vaccines. But no, there was no meaningful leadership there. What there was, was example after example of stupidity and self-interested statements to downplay the seriousness of the pandemic.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@Zaku Emergency rooms across the US had hundreds upon hundreds of calls asking if it was ok to ingest disinfectant, after that press meeting.
And @Yellowdog You do know this is a Pandemic it’s affecting the entire planet,so to say without The Don Father there would be no vaccine, do you stop and listen to yourself?
Other countries were working on a vaccine right away.
One major thing the Trump failed at was not letting Biden’s team in on what was going on with the Pandemic and what they were doing about it, that alone was truly criminal.
But I guess he was to busy plotting on trying to over throw the government.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Trump didn’t start any wars, but more Americans died on his watch than Viet-nam and the Korean war combined.
This guy was doing a great job?

Yellowdog's avatar

Well, @SQUEEKY2 at least you Canadians now lost the Keystone XL Pipeline and all those jobs in Alberta. You will feel some of the economic hardship, hyper-inflation that we in the States will be suffering in 5–6 months because of Biden’s first-day executive orders.

I will actually be as glad as you to see the U.S. fail and crash.

Maybe you Canadians can sell your oil to China. They will soon be the world leader. We in the States will return to buying oil from Iran, and Europe is already getting most of their oil from Putin. None will be from the States.

You might want to start building a Wall, because when America reaches a certain point in their decline, hundreds of thousands of our unemployed will descend on Canada, which is far more restrictive than the U.S. when it comes to borders and entry.

Dutchess_III's avatar

You’re out of your mind Dawg.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Sit down @Yellowdog !

You’re making a scene and losing your argument !

You off your meds ?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

WoW! @Yellowdog I absolutely do not want to see the US fail, I want it to succeed but not at the cost of the working class or the environment .
But thanks for proving a point for me about die hard fright wingers ,didn’t take any time at all for you to scream the sky is falling.
You might want to be sitting or even laying down when they convict your hero and he can never again run for any type of government office, now that I am looking forward to.

Yellowdog's avatar

Eleven thousand jobs eliminated, @SQUEEKY2

At a time when the world economy is in the throes of a pandemic. This has reprocussions for Canada as well.

And all those businesses and related firms along the way, and the dismantling of one of our greatest engineering achievements.

Not exactly the sky falling.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Clearly, not everyone will be allowed to live here. It troubles me a great deal that were I given my pick of places, my response would no longer be automatic.

Demosthenes's avatar

Yes, 11,000 speculative temporary jobs. To maintain the pipeline, about 50. Not to mention that thousands of jobs were lost just in the week before the inauguration. So a drop in the bucket ultimately. It’s not as if there are no jobs in renewable energy, even if the fossil fuel industry would like you to believe that.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

AS @Demosthenes speculative jobs, and that is just construction as for full time he says fifty I heard twice that, and you are right we lost 1000 jobs up here when it was cancelled.
I would like the oil companies to stop fucking around and just build a refinery at the site ,more Canadian jobs and refine it to a state that isn’t so harmful when there is a pipe line failure.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Well the Premier is concerned. He may see the bigger picture a bit more clearly. We don’t want to see YOU fail either.
You guys really should at least google before ridiculing people.

ragingloli's avatar

There are many reasons why that pipeline faces so much opposition:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystone_Pipeline#Indigenous_Lands_and_Peoples
Chiefly, it is about the pipeline violating native american territories, the destruction of cultural sites, and the destruction and contamination of their food sources and water supplies of millions.
But as usual, all that is ignored. “Fuck dem redskins, ah only care about mah jabs!”
