Would you have any problem sticking your hand in your toilet tank to pull the plunger to flush the toilet?

The chain broke off so we need to get a toilet repair kit. Until then we flush by hand.
Don’t bother me in the least.

It’s sticking my hand in the bowl that I would balk at.

By the way you can do a quick fix with fishing line until you get the repair kit.

I’m having to do that lately in our other bathroom off the hall. Chain gets hung up on the stopper, and while
it will flush fine, the damn water will keep running until I yank the stupid chain out. Drives me nuts at night if I get up to pee and forget to do it. As far as putting my hand in there, no. It’s just water.

The first time I had to do it, I was initially kind of grossed out by the idea of it. But once you open up the water tank, you can tell that the water from the toilet bowl isn’t going into the water tank. No issues with it after that.

Is your husband being squeamish about it?

Doesn’t bother me to touch it, or to touch the clean water in the toilet bowl (like when I clean the toilet bowl).

As for convenience, obviously I would want it fixed asap so I could flush it the regular way.

Nope. Water in the tank is clean. I have fixed MANY toilet flushing problems by making adjustments in the tank.

Why would we hesitate? Have you been peeing in the wrong part of the toilet @Dutchess_III?

There’s a reason the lid on the tank much heavier than the lid on the bowl. To discourage that behavior.

If the chain gets hung up…shorten it.
Sometimes that works.

The water in the tank is isolated from the water in the bowl, and I wouldn’t hesitate to wash my hands in the tank if necessary. This is of course assuming no one bothers to pee or dump into the tank itself.
