“Great Question” (0points)

This question has several parts. First, do you have a Twitter account? Second, did you use it often? Third, will you keep it or get rid of it now that Elon Musk owns Twitter? And Fourth, if you decide to get rid of it, why did you come to this decision?

I never had one until yesterday, the jury is still out if I will keep or use it.

Yes, I have one; but, I seldom use it. I signed up right after they first opened their doors when a few friends were ranting how great it was!!! I haven’t seen the greatness since opening it. Yet, I can’t seem to bring myself to closing my account.

I find Musk much like having my account. I just don’t see his greatness although I respect his personal success. I can’t deny that he’s intelligent (other than his love child with Amber Heard). At the same time, I can’t shut him out of my life. I keep wondering what he’s going to do next!!! Since he’s intriguing, I will probably keep an eye on what’s happening. I blocked 45 from my account waayyy back when he became so ridiculous. The ONLY thing I knew about what he had to say came through the news, comedians, & Fluther. 45 can’t remember the name of his own platform & he hasn’t posted on it in over 3 months. He’s saying he has NO interest in rejoining Twitter. I’m guessing that’s a LIE which he is known for doing frequently. He didn’t want on Twitter, he ONLY wanted to complain that he couldn’t post on Twitter because it was good for polarizing his base!!!

I don’t see Musk changing Twitter enough that I’ll care what he does. I don’t use Twitter as a way to express myself & I don’t care what others think. I mainly use it as a tool to keep up with people I care about…NOT my stage for performing my greatness!!! So, I don’t give a crap that Musk has purchased Twitter & it probably won’t change a thing; so, I’m keeping an open mind. I NEVER say NEVER, so I guess we will see!!!

I have.
I don’t use it (almost at all).
I’ll keep it.
I haven’t heard what’s his thoughts/ideas/plans with/about it, so I either need to find out (and decide then what I’ll do), or just let it be (it’s not like I’m invested in it, really).

I opened one a number of years ago. Tried it for fifteen minutes. Abandoned it.

I have one I stopped using about 10 years ago.
Whether or not I go back depends on updates, as I found it rather boring.

I have a posting account. Last used it in 2017.

I read other posts daily.

I have had one since the late aughts. I check it about three times a week, and mostly go there by being redirected from other sites that note an interesting tweet, like whne the baseball picther tackled a base runner.

I rarely post anything of my own, but I do retweet other people.

AS for the future, if it turns into another cess pool, I will drop it, otherwise I will stay at the same level of engagemnt as now.

I have never had one. If Musk eliminates the current level of policing on the site, I would not ever get an account.

I have had an account for many years. I log in about 3–4 times a year for an hour. I never got the hang of it.

I opened an account years ago to follow Jim Carrey. Stopped visiting after a few weeks I opened an account. Also tried Reddit but didn’t warm up to it. I felt too much time will be wasted gorging on whatever these websites had to offer. Ended up wasting time on Facebook instead. Fluther is one of the few websites I don’t feel like wasting time when logged in.

I have one.
Rarely read it.
It is not a platform of anything believable to me. More a place for people to spout.
I will keep review on same interval to watch it evolve.
My guess is it will evolve to something that i dislike more.

I’ve never fancied Twitter and I’ve never had an account.

Not me.

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. No.
4. NA

KNOWITALL's avatar

@ForeverFree Exactly, spouting is a good description.

Caravanfan's avatar

1. Yes
2. Depends on what you mean by “use”. I go on it every day as it’s how I keep in touch with my astronomy friends. I’ll occasionally tweet back to them in conversation. I also follow a bunch of medical people and a few political pundits but mostly just read. I rarely tweet anything myself.
3. Yes. I will keep it unless it becomes unusable for one reason or another. Content can always be blocked or ignored. I think Elon Musk is an asshole, and his cultists are annoying, but it’s no reason for me to cut myself off from my online community.

1 ) Yes, fourteen years.
2 ) Yes for reading tweets rarely tweet or re-tweet.
3 ) Keep.
4 ) ^^^^^

I do not have one as of last summer. Before then, I almost never used it. The only thing I used it for recently was to get the most up-to-date information about wildfire evacuations. Emergency information is something Twitter is admittedly good for. I certainly would never have used it for politics. Yeesh.

chyna's avatar

I looked at it once. I didn’t get it, so I never opened an account.

raum's avatar

Oops, #3 was an “or” question. I read it as “Will you get rid of it now that Elon Musk owns Twitter?”

SQUEEKY2's avatar

I am with @chyna I looked at it a few years back didn’t get it either and never looked at it again.

SnipSnip's avatar

I’ve never used the site.

smudges's avatar

Don’t have one, barely know what it is. ;)

gorillapaws's avatar

1. Yes
2. Not really. It’s mostly for keeping informed on certain niche subject areas, like Apple programming (people post links to talks they’ve given/articles they’ve written, etc.). And more recently for following details in the Ukrainian War. I rarely post.
3. I’ll keep using it for that purpose unless the people I follow abandon it en masse and it’s no longer useful for that task.

JLeslie's avatar

Interesting how many jellies never took to it.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@JLeslie True, a bit surprising to me as well.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

Well, as best I can tell it’s for people with very short attention spans.

snowberry's avatar

I see Twitter just like I see Facebook. It’s yet another opportunity to waste time and gossip. I’ve never had a Twitter account. Don’t plan to.
