Has anyone ever told you "Damn, do your legs go all the way up?"?

“Great Question” (4points)

Where the heck are they suppose to go? What does that mean? That comment sounds stupid to me. Is that an insult?

It means they think you have long legs.

RayaHope's avatar

But I mean why would they say that like that? Like “No they stop right after my hemline. Duh!

It was a common term of flattery in the days when pinups were as close to porn as you could get and still avoid arrest.

JLoon's avatar

Yes. More than once.

It’s the kind of vaguely sexual, but mostly corny comment almost every tall woman hears from shorter men and women.

We’re freaks. Practice your coping skills.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

No, but in grade 6 a student called me a “Skinny Long-Necker” . It is a play on the spider named Daddy-Long-Legs.

RayaHope's avatar

@RedDeerGuy1 “Skinny Long-Necker” sounds kinda funny like you have a long neck? Kids can be such butts sometimes.

Well I guess it’s not an insult anyway. Just sounds weird to say it like that.

LadyMarissa's avatar

It’s a guy’s crude way of saying you have pretty legs & he enjoys looking at them!!! It’s NOT meant to be an insult, but some guys can say it in such a way that it comes off insulting!!!

ragingloli's avatar

“Yes, they go all the way up your ass, so you can nibble on my toe nails.”

RayaHope's avatar

@ragingloli I gosh you IDK?

RayaHope's avatar

@LadyMarissa I hate when they stare and give creepy looks sometimes. There’s always that one or two guys that seem creepy and I don’t want to be alone around them.

LadyMarissa's avatar

^^ Then avoid the creepy guys…you’re NOT obligated to entertain them!!!

cookieman's avatar

Yes, keep away from anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable.

I really never understood why someone can’t glance at someone they find attractive, run the little fantasy in your head if you must, and go about your business without staring, gawking, or saying something lewd or stupid. It’s okay to find someone attractive. It’s not okay to be creepy or worse, threatening.

janbb's avatar

^^ But the unfortunate truth is that women have to learn to protect themselves.

Demosthenes's avatar

I can’t hear that expression without thinking of Legs Go All the Way Up Griffin.

JLoon's avatar

@Demosthenes – How insensitive ; )

cookieman's avatar

@janbb: Completely.

Forever_Free's avatar

Yes. Usually after a Yoga class when my feet are still stuck behind my ears.

I am on guard whenever in school or out in public, kinda used to it but I wonder if I should be? I need to watch what I wear and can’t always wear what I want to. I love short shorts and tube tops to keep my tan nice but can only wear them around the house or at the beach.

jca2's avatar

@RayaHope: What you may consider a tan really is equivalent to sun damage.

RayaHope's avatar

@jca2 I do use SPF when out in the sun but I know too much sun is not good. I also LOVE the look. I feel energized but the sun and the heat…I can’t help it.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

I don’t believe it’s an insult, I think it’s intended as a compliment. It means you have pretty legs. Or that was the meaning in my day anyway. I only used it once and got slapped for my trouble. Point taken, never again. Oh well live and learn. Maybe I can be forgiven for being young and dumb at the time. And she did have sexy legs, it was intended to be a compliment. She did apologize later but I told her I was out of line dont worry. We actually became pretty tight freinds after that fiasco. Go figure.

chyna's avatar

I’m 5’2 so no, no one has ever said that to me.

RayaHope's avatar

@Nomore_Tantrums I told you that women would like you. You don’t give yourself enough credit. :)
@chyna I’m only 5’5 but rather thin I guess.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Don’t know about all that, but thanks for the vote of confidence. @RayaHope

JLoon's avatar

@jca2 – And what others think of as a beautiful sunset actually means you’ve just moved one day closer to DEATH! ;p

Jeezus! Why is everyone so goddam (un) cheerful?? Lets give the girl a break – she got hit on with some sub par flirting.

I believe she will survive without taking up the burqa.

Just like I did.

Just like you did.

Just like every good looking girl, ever.

It can be annoying, but it can make you stronger & smarter if you face it without fear or anger.

Welcome to the Sassy Woman Club. Let those legs make you proud.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Lol @JLoon Never pull them punches do ya? ; )

JLoon's avatar

@Nomore_Tantrums – ARE YOU FLIRTING WITH ME?!

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Not a bit! Maybe if I was 40 years younger and single, I probably would, I ain’t gonna lie, I like ya. But being married and at my advanced age, surely you do but jest. : ) Nothing personal of course, I’m just a broken down old coot. But not a perv at least. @JLoon

JLoon's avatar

@Nomore_Tantrums – Probably because you can’t see my legs ;)

Fine.

Go in peace Brother.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Good enough. Lol @JLoon

Kropotkin's avatar

I’m a man. I never get these wonderfully flattering comments about my physical appearance. :(

Dutchess_III's avatar

Trust me. When it’s said in a leering tone you you get sick of the “compliments.” They don’t feel wonderfully flattering.

RayaHope's avatar

@Kropotkin aww, you got a fine….beard? ;)
@JLoon @Nomore_Tantrums You guys are cracking me up LOL!!

Kropotkin's avatar

@RayaHope I have, but that’s not my photo obviously. Thanks anyway.

Kropotkin's avatar

If there’s any beard fetishists wanting a peek, PM me.

flutherother's avatar

It’s a comment rarely made to women in long dresses.
