For me, it means that the 2 royals that I can’t stand will have their face plastered all over everything for a few days. Other than that, I don’t expect much out of the new king.

It means that Chucky Cheese will be king.

However, I hear that Burger King and Dairy Queen will contest his ascension. ;)

Someone new on the money

@Brian 1946 I was thinking the burger king the pinnacle of royalty and more deserving of the throne. “Have it your way” should replace the national anthem.

Thinking about the Queen, as compared to Charles and William. She is better known for a whimsical sense of humor. I don’t see that in them, though Harry may have it.

As A Canadian the queen was the only living person on ours.

Some are saying Charles may be less of a racist, but who knows. The Queen was certainly not an apologist.

@SQUEEKY2 Yep she gave your quarter some class. Ours is rather frumpy. When I was a kid, I thought ours had the image of Ma kettle. Tradition requires the current monarch on the money througout the Empire. I don’t know if this remains current. But earlier in my life, every former colony of the British Empire had a quarter sized coin bearing that portrait of Liz. Say what you will about the stuffy Brits. They know how to dress up the money with the respect it deserves.

You have really cool money with both technicolor bills and a menagerie of animals on the coinage.

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose as the French say but there again look what happened to their Royal Family.

I heard that other countries may consider placing famous contributors to humanity on there money instead of the Queen or Monarchary.
We have on five dollar bills famouse activists, humaitarians, scenes,and in the past as well.

Thanks still surviving.

No evacuation needed as the Wildfire that destroyed the main Power lines to our Town has disrupted services
( no power, no ATM’s, No lights,heat,refrigeration,dry goods only,tourists still coming in and taking all the little food that the grocery stores had and not idea when the next shipments will arrive, as no refrigeration….so only dry goods.

Ate a lot of protein bars for breakfast/lunch and was fortunate the the local Seniors Lodge for more older seniors had a Generator the supplied everything.

We were treated daily with free chef cooked meals once a day ( suppers) as most of the invalid seniors with oxygen tanks , walkers etc were airlifted to another nearby City that has all the amenities..they will be there for a week or more before been able to return..but I think it will take much longer than that.

Seven major power poles supplying Power to Jasper National Park burnt in that fire and thus will take time to replace , but since the fire is still burning not soon that’s for sure.

On top of that snow reported on top of the mountains and thus with no heat in our homes we use lots of blankets in the meantime.

Otherwise I get out in the day time to get sunshine and light as when I get back we are in darkness in the apartment block.( and homes) I like many use flashlights to get around.

Now we have intermittent power in our building ( limited to heat and lights for now).
I get up a 6 am to use the computer before the power wanes.

Well a good memory of this experience for my autobiography,,as I keep a journal of everyday happenings.
This one’s for the book.

All OK I have a roof over my head, suppers provided,company,contact with my son in another Town of which he goes online when I can’t to find the daily updates on the situation.

@Inspired_2write: I looked at the temperature for Red Deer yesterday (as that was the only town I knew was close to you) and the temperature was 45. That’s pretty cold to be without heat. Been there, done that during a few hurricanes here in the past decade but it was very hard to sleep when it was so cold indoors.

Hinton, Alberta ,Canada is the nearest City ( 45 min away).
Lately its been cloudy and raining which helps douse the Fire sonewhat,( it helps).
Today all emergency agents will be giving a meeting in our building to update up and answer our concerns directly as so much misinformation is circulating.
One this to conseve power amoung the 500 residents is that we have intermittant power in each area for 12 hour periods, hense I am able to use my home computer, stove,etc
until approx 2 pm today after that power is off for our grid area for another 12 hours.
At least we have daylight power and night time no problem just lots of blankets and sleep it off.
I get up at 6 am to have full use of our alotted time, but many residents here sleep until noon hour, but those are the night owls who party in the late evenings.

Unfortunately not. The UK now faces the prospect one of the country’s worse prime ministers (Liz Truss) and monarchs (Charles III),
