There is a tendency for business school graduates to treat running a business like empire-building. You can’t JUST make nacho chips. You have to add Cool Ranch. And when that’s successful, you have to add spicy. And when that’s successful, you add 18 other flavors nobody wants. And when that peters out, you keep looking for places to expand your brand/empire.

Just make chips. Do it well. And pay out dividends to your stockholders if you’ve got extra money. You don’t have to grow the empire.

That sounds absolutely disgusting, and I’m someone who has mixed vodka and koolaid!

My guess is they don’t actually care about selling this item, but they want the Doritos name dropped in news feeds all over the web. Here we are talking about it. They know they will sell what they made also because it’s a short-lived novelty.
Then there is the fact that a lot of people have terrible taste in alcohol. I watch hordes of people buy the gawd-awful watered down “moonshine” mixed with kool-ade in Gatlinburg day after day after day.

Manufacturers will try to hook you on everything. This is a terrible novelty attempt.
