Did Trump's possible VP contender Kristi Noem doom her career by admitting she shot and killed her puppy and her goat?

“Great Question” (4points)

Bizarre and sad – Trump’s possible VP contender Kristi Noem admitted in her new book that she shot and killed her 14 month old puppy, named “Cricket” because of its bad behavior, and then on the same day, she shot her goat.

Did she just doom her career?

It strikes me as odd, sad, mean, evil, a whole bunch of things, none of them good.

There is no level of depravity a republican can stoop to that their voters are unable to excuse/ignore/justify.

Probably not. People will ignore or justify anything if it makes them feel better about their choices. I can’t believe I’m about to say maybe even Trump finds her attitude and willingness to kill her pet worrisome. So, maybe she did doom her possibility of being the VP pick, but I think Trump voters would overlook it if he does pick her.

It’s shocking how she practically bragged about it. It reminded me how she answered questions about the ten year old girl who was pregnant. She didn’t care what that girl would go through.

I think she did. Both Republican and Democratic people can be animal lovers and her actions were fairly heinous.

Oh, I hope so.

Trump doesn’t like dogs, so no damage to her career.

So living in farm country with working dogs is very different than having pets. Once a farm dog gets the taste for blood its essentially a liability for livestock.
To me this has nothing to do with politics, my grandfather would have done the same. Even if your dog came to kill a calf or chickens, he’d have the right to shoot it here.
Not sure what the goat did. :(

She killed the goat essentially for being a goat, smelly, nasty and mean.

@jca2 Kristi Noem admitted in her new book that she shot and killed her 14 month old puppy, named “Cricket” because of its bad behavior, and then on the same day, she shot her goat.

From what I’ve read, she bragged about her actions in the book. Since her words got media attention, she’s doubled-down and described herself as “responsible.”

Yes, I think her political future is doomed. Nobody will forget this incident, and people all over the political spectrum love animals.

Jesus. Sick.
Anyone with half a brain would be horrified, and to BRAG about it is just plain stupid.

I’ll just leave all that here.

Horrible human.

I am praying Trump chooses her as his running mate.

I despise them both.

In her mind, she sees it as showing that she’s capable of making the tough decisions. After her brag, she snarled I hated that dog. Now the Mar-a-Lago camp is distancing themselves from her by saying that she was NEVER on the shortlist because 45 had NO plan to bring her on board. Any guesses as to how long before 45 will praise her & say that she made the right choice???

I jsut googled and supposedly she had a shot at being picked as VP but she blew it. Who knows, as Trump seems to change with the wind, but here’s the Guardian article from today. I didn’t read it carefully, just scanned it.

I just found out she is coming to The Villages in a couple of weeks. I probably won’t be here, or I would be tempted to sit in the lobby and see who shows up for her.

Dutchess_III's avatar

From your link @jca2

Kristi Noem, the Republican governor of South Dakota, “had a shot” at being named Donald Trump’s presidential running mate – but blew it by boasting about shooting her dog to death, a Trump insider reportedly said.

SnipSnip's avatar

I doubt it.

LostInParadise's avatar

I cannot imagine what justification she would give for this. If is definitely the kind of publicity that could take away votes from Trump

MrGrimm888's avatar

Not if she’s tethered to Trump.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Just another manifestation of conservative stupidity

Noem just ended her book tour early. Amazon shut down reviews of the book.

@jca2 I just looked it up on Amazon after reading your post. It says it’s a Best Seller.
