Our complacency and loss of interest in everything except the stuff that is scandalous and sensationalized.
The delegation of legislative powers to the executive branch.
The formation of political parties that spend more time creating problems between themselves than solving actual problems.
The lack of tri-cornered hats.
That we’ve modified the Constitution as little as we have, and that we give so much weight to what they did in a low-tech agrarian age and so little weight to our own powers of thinking.
Slave-owning bigots who didn’t want to pay unjust taxes. Let’s be fair here.
Anyway, it doesn’t fascinate you to know what such cruel (in your opinion) men thought? I don’t have such a negative view of them, but I’d love to understand what goes on in say, the mind of Kim-Jong Il, or John Wayne Gacy, etc. etc.
My guess is they would hate 3 things (not necessarily in this order):
1) Glenn Beck (or any other re-incarnation of the demon that used to live inside Rush Limbaugh).
2) People ranting and going on about how “America is a Democracy”. It’s a republic people… the voters do not make decisions… they ELECT the people that make the decisions. Go back to 8th grade social studies and quit whinning.
3) Right wing insistence on including religion in all debates and or imposing their beliefs on others… no respect for the separation of church and state… and then of course crap like this from Jerry Falwell.
They tried to give everyone a right to an opinion and a right to worship however they choose. That does not give a specific group a right to impose their morality or belief system and claim that’s how the country was founded.
