mmfff, what?

Valerie111's avatar

Nope! Only because I bought candy for the kids and a separate bag of Reeses for me :P

Headhurts's avatar

We don’t really go for all that here in the UK. I’m sure kids like knocking on doors, but only to see how much money they can get. It is a much more American thing, that us British want to try to copy.

tom_g's avatar

I broke into the bag of Twix. They were disgusting, which didn’t stop me from shoveling them into my mouth. I am eating one right now. Awful things.

LuckyGuy's avatar

Yep! You know me too well. A mini Milky Way bar and a mini Whoppers – (3 malted milk balls.)
@tom_g I’ll finish them for you!

janbb's avatar

Reese’s peanut butter cups and Starburst here (so far.)

glacial's avatar

This is why I don’t buy Hallowe’en candy anymore. :/

ragingloli's avatar

I had a plate full of grilled chicken, feta cheese, salad and yogurt sauce.
fuck candy

Sunny2's avatar

I wait until after Halloween when every one brings left over candy for refreshments during the recess of our group. I look for mini Nestle’s Crunch or Hershey’s Dark Chocolate miniatures.

Seek's avatar

Nope. Why buy candy, when I can get total strangers to just give it to me tomorrow?

ragingloli's avatar

you might want to rephrase that

Seek's avatar

Hmmm… nah, I’ll own it.

*demonic voice: all the better

My son came over, and found the hidden candy. He opened the bag, and now it is fair game.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

I will confess.

I eat a whole Hershey’s bar every day, and I dip each little section in peanut butter.

I don’t wait till Halloween.

tom_g's avatar

@Hawaii_Jake – The peanut butter adds protein, which makes it practically health food.

Seek's avatar

@tom_g and hello, MILK chocolate. And chocolate comes from a bean. It’s a complete meal.

Kardamom's avatar

It wasn’t my own stuff, I was at a friend’s house last weekend, taking care of her dog and I saw the open bag of Milky Way bars. I know her husband opened the bag and ate some first.

I’m ahead of my time. I broke into it the day after Halloween last year. Bound by convention? Never!

Pachy's avatar

I did that a month ago! Bought a big bag of my favorite, candy corn, and polished it off in less than a week. That’s it for me this year.

Katniss's avatar

I’ve gone through a couple bags of Hershey’s miniatures, a bag of Carmel apple Milky Way’s, and a bag of Twix so far.
Don’t judge. My son helped, and PMS is a bitch!

muppetish's avatar

We don’t buy Halloween candy anymore because our house doesn’t receive many trick or treaters. We would end up with a mostly full bowl by the end of the night. We usually keep a small store of candy at home, which I eat regularly.

Jeruba's avatar

No. I’m not tempted by little packets of cheap candy. (I have other lurking temptations, though.) I do have to hide it to make sure others don’t deplete it beforehand. We had 54 kids stop by last year, so I bought plenty. My family will get the leftovers—but they’re not leftovers until after the event.

Tomorrow

flip86's avatar

No. I gave up sweets a little more then a year and a half ago when I decided to lose some weight. I lost 50 pounds and still don’t eat sweets.

livelaughlove21's avatar

Nope. We decided against spending money on candy for other people’s kids this year, so our porch light will be off tomorrow night. I’m not a huge fan of children anyway.

Plus, I probably couldn’t avoid the temptation if I had goodies here, and I have no need for the extra calories.

@Headhurts Money?! Why couldn’t I have grown up in the UK?

Smitha's avatar

I am an Indian and we don’t celebrate Halloween here in Dubai. But I really enjoy the whole concept, it’s a chance to do something a bit different. Though we don’t celebrate ,I always make something spooky for my daughter. This time I made Dirt Pudding cups with gummy worms and Broken Glass cupcakes.

Headhurts's avatar

@livelaughlove21 Yep, a few little sweets and a couple of pound. I only did it the one years when I were little. I don’t know know what people give kids anymore but I’m guessing it’s still the same.

gailcalled's avatar

My daughter brought a little bag of mini-tootsie rolls with her and I tried two. Luckily, they no longer taste like the candy I used to love…I checked the ingredients…hig fructose corn syrup at the top.

Over the past few years I have had the same experience with the mini Milky Way, Mounds, and a few others. They also no longer tasted good enough to warrant eating.

So, no longer even tempted. I stick to the local home-made ice cream or a few almonds coated in dark chocolate.

Pooh54's avatar

yes, are you spying on me? :)

janbb's avatar

@Pooh54 I know what you are doing!

Kardamom's avatar

@gailcalled I noticed that too, that some of my favorite candies from childhood, don’t taste the same anymore. : (

tom_g's avatar

@gailcalled – It could be that they actually taste different. But part of it is likely our changing palates. Going from eating the occasional square of 71% dark chocolate to a novelty candy is shocking to my tongue. It actually hurts in a way that spicy food does. There seems to be little flavor and tons of sweet-burn.

LuckyGuy's avatar

Hey! It’s after 5:00PM !!! Time to open ‘em up!!!

One Heath bar is already missing and a PayDay is not far behind.

janbb's avatar

No Reese’s peanut butter cups have been harmed in the asking of this queation. :-P

flutherother's avatar

I got mini Mars bars and lots of wee sugery lollipops and chews and they are delicious.
