4AM EST. Charleston, SC. Checking in.
Heavy rain bands have been moving in, as the remnants of the eye wall roll in. Flooding not severe yet. Florence will dump a lot of water into our rivers north of me. Much will depend on the Ashley, and Stono Rivers, for me. They flank my area. If they can handle letting all that water out, I’ve got a good chance to be ok.
Expecting lots more rain. Next 24 hrs are crucial. Next high tide is noonish, then another in 12 hrs. That Sat/Sun high tide at midnight, will be the clincher.
Reports I hear from NC could be worse. But yes. Hundreds on rooftops, and at least 5 dead.
Shout out to our National Guard. BAD ASS MOTHER FUCKERS. Thank you NG. We have guys here, from as far as Alaska. These guys are saving lives, and will be a vital resource moving forward with damage control.
Special thanks to our local heroes. Every storm like this, ordinary people get out there in their boats, and trucks, and help each other.
My situation is getting a bit more hairy. Possibly my last update. Fingers crossed, and holding on. This is Charleston SC, signing back out.
Peace n love.
