Absolutely not. We lose power all the time, and it’s been a real bummer. Sometimes we lose power up to a week (in suburban MA).
Losing power usually means we have to make sure backup battery is functioning for sump pump. And when it’s out for a longer time, I need to pull out a generator and run it to charge battery backup, run sump pump, and try to run extension cords into the kitchen to cycle our refrigerator to keep us from losing food (and our basement chest freezer).
When I want to unplug and relax, I love being able to do that and not lose hundreds of dollars or flood my house or have to take vacation time to be home to manage the house.
EDIT: Also, in the winter, we have to worry about pipes freezing and the whole house getting destroyed. We’ve come pretty close a few times, and have friends that have basically lost their house to this.
Also, I spend a lot of time outside in the woods “unplugged”.
