Is there a wall somewhere (Rome?) where people place slips of paper hoping to further their romantic dreams?

“Great Question” (4points)

I don’t remember where I saw something about this, but of course it resembled the way that visitors to the Western Wall in Jerusalem may write their prayers on paper and slip them into the crevices between the stones.

Is there such a place for would-be lovers to express their hearts’ desires? And do they actually believe that the wall has some special wish-granting powers?

@Brian1946, oh, my, that must be it! Thanks. Know anybody who’s ever petitioned there?

I only am familiar with the fountain in the movie, Three Coins in the Fountain. I remember it coming on TV when I was little girl and my mother being excited to see it. That was where the people made their wishes. I’m 80% sure it was Rome.

@Jeruba

I don’t know of anybody who has, but would you believe that I left a note for Monica Bellucci in a women’s restroom in Naples? ;)

Jeruba's avatar

I would, @Brian1946, especially if you had the munchies at the time.

I won’t even ask “What were you doing in a women’s restroom in Naples?” because the answer is obvious: you were leaving a note for Monica Bellucci.

So did she reply?

Not yet. ;(

If they’ve repainted the walls, then my chance for romance is doomed. ;(

▼Now I’m seeing a continuously green rectangle. So WTF causes it to blink at other times?!

I usually get those notes on napkins, at the bar, with phone numbers.

I guess it could happen in Rome, or Paris or Rio too. Just hope there’d be a little poetry… somewhere.

Lol @JLoon I used to send notes like that occasionally, usually came back with things along the lines of, “Drop dead asshole”, or “Go get stuffed”. Lol

@Nomore_Tantrums – Ha!

That wasn’t me, I swear ;)

Besides the Wall of Love there’s Casa de Giulietta and Casa di Romeo, in Verona.

I’mma go there with my napkins.

Oh, and there’s also a statue of Juliette there – And the legend is that touching the right boob will bring luck in Love.

I’ve always wondered where that rumor started…

^^ So that’s what was going on in 8th grade! And here I thought the boys just wanted a feel.

@smudges – Yeah!

I guess they were all Shakespeare fans.
