“Great Question” (2points)

My total cholesterol level is elevated by 9 points above the normal. My bad cholesterol is elevated as well but the nurse assistant I spoke to said the ratio between the bad and the good ones are still in the normal range. Thank you.

Pretty much most fast food greasy french fries all those burgers with that grease dripping off of them. yuck! “Plant” based oils like corn oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil and soybean oil. Deep fried foods like chicken and fish, heck anything deep fried.

Foods with cholesterol. Cut you cholesterol mg’s in half (or more) and see if your cholesterol drops after 3–4 weeks. Cholesterol is only found in animal products. So, that’s all meat, fish, poultry, milk, cheese, eggs. Look up what you eat. One egg yolk has the same cholesterol as a decent sized steak.

Also, some studies show lowering saturated fat and sugar helps too. I would do one thing at a time to know what helps your body. Less sugar/carbohydrates should lower your triglycerides significantly if those are high.

If I cut my cholesterol intake 75% my cholesterol drops 50 points in 3 weeks. That’s me, my body doesn’t know what to do with cholesterol and I pump out a ton of it also. I’m an over-absorber and over-producer. You possibly eat less cholesterol and nothing changes. It only takes 3–4 weeks to test it. Make sure you don’t eat a lot of cholesterol 1–3 days before the test.

When I was 16 and thin my first cholesterol test was 270 and my triglycerides were high. The only way you know what is working for YOU is by testing.

Worst offenders:
Red meat, like beef, pork, and lamb, as well as processed meats like sausage.
Full-fat dairy, like cream, whole milk, and butter.
Baked goods and sweets.
Fried foods.
Tropical oils such as palm oil and coconut oil.

Sugar, baked goods, hydrogenated oil, vegetable oils, candy, processed meat. Stay away.

Eat fish, olive oil, small portions of lean meat and lots of veggies.
I take cod liver oil to raise my HDL. Exercise helps too.

I’m not a MD, but my MD told me that aside from extremes like eating fast-food regularly, nearly all cholesterol issues are related to genetics, and that diet is pretty negligible. If you’re having cholesterol issues or have a family history of cholesterol or heart disease, I would encourage you to have that conversation with your primary care provider.

Eat only fruits and vegetables.

@kritiper a person needs and must have protein. Therefore they need to eat certain protein high veggies like beans but you need a diet plan to do that and get the proper mix. Squash, lettuce and cucumbers will not give you proteins.

Cholesterol is much maligned, and this article gives you the good as well as the bad!

@Tropical_Willie Eat beans and corn. They will give you the protein you need. (Same as beef.)
The cholesterol in eggs doesn’t hurt you as much as helps you.
