How is this not seen as a threat?

“Great Question” (6points)

Trump posted on his truth social the following. “In an all-caps social media post-Tuesday morning, Trump decried the criminal charges that have been filed against him in federal court and asked “somebody” to “explain” his position to special counsel Jack Smith, “his family, and his friends.”

How is this not a call to action from Maga fanatics to harm Mr. Smith or his family and friends? If this wasn’t a threat, then he wouldn’t have mentioned including his family or friends. Because they have nothing to do with his case.

His tactics are not much different than January 6th.

Meanwhile, the Judge ordered that witnesses be made public. I assume, so they too can be harassed or possibly harmed and be prevented from testifying.
Last I checked this was illegal as can be. Tampering with the court in your case whether its witnesses, counsel, or jury or judge should land your butt in jail.

Trump thinks he can do no wrong, and the evil left is just out to get him.
Listen you can hear him and his fanatic base screaming hoax, witch hunt.
And to answer your question yes I would consider it a threat but knowing Trump some how if he cries hoax enough he will get away with it.

Here is the full text of the post from Truth Social:

COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN TO THE DERANGED, TRUMP HATING JACK SMITH, HIS FAMILY, AND HIS FRIENDS, THAT AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, I COME UNDER THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT, AS AFFIRMED BY THE CLINTON SOCKS CASE, NOT BY THIS PSYCHOS’ FANTASY OF THE NEVER USED BEFORE ESPIONAGE ACT OF 1917. “SMITH” SHOULD BE LOOKING AT CROOKED JOE BIDDEN AND ALL OF THE CRIMES THAT HE HAS PERPETRATED ON THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, INCLUDING THE MILLIONS & MILLIONS OF DOLLARS HE EXTORTED FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES!

While he clearly understands neither the laws nor the court case that he mentions, the full text doesn’t seem like a threat since he’s not suggesting that he will take any personal action. Is it a call to action? Maybe for some letter writing and internet harassment. But I think it’s a stretch to read it as a deliberate attempt to get anyone to hurt Smith, his family, or his friends.

Truth Social is Trump’s personal toilet and he should get the flush mechanism fixed so this sort of thing doesn’t linger.

This is not new. In august, 2016, he suggested that the “2nd Amendment people” could do something about Clinton if she was elected. Advocating for future violence against a sitting President, and it was brushed off.

I find it fascinating that people still back him as all of this stuff comes out like this and the recording of him laughing about secret documents.
Things like this ARE a threat. This type of childish bullying might have been acceptable a few generations ago but need to be removed from societal norms.

Doesn’t seem like a threat as much as a rant to me. It’s not as if I don’t recall Maxine Waters and other Democratic sponsored violence.

If that’s a threat of violence, you’d have to arrest more than half the people in America. Could it be taken as a threat due to who voiced it? Sure, but it couldn’t be proven. I don’t see it as one, and I despise trump.

The FBI and other security groups underestimated the January 6th event with Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys too!

Witnesses may have fear now !

“Won’t someone rid me of this meddlesome priest”?

He is using weasel words to maintain plausible deniability.
Like mobsters want someone to be “dealt with”.

@smudges I wouldn’t see it as a threat by regular people because most people don’t have a cult that would do anything to please them.

On more than one occasion Trump and his lackeys have indicated there will be at the very least civil unrest or bloodshed if he’s arrested.

And three. Why mention friends and family unless it was meant as a threat.? It’s one thing to rant against the counsel its another to provoke people to harass his family. I mean he’s apparently learning not to be a full-on moron and say something that would land him directly in jail. As @ragingloli suggested, he’s using weasel words.

Keep in mind Trump knows exactly to what extremes his cult members will go for him. Don’t pretend January 6 wasn’t instigated by him and approved. He let them run wild and sat back and enjoyed the show. “Its going to be wild”, “Take back America” His lies easily set in motion threats against election workers and even their families. So again, I ask, why mention this mans family unless its to harrass them and his followers know that.

@Pandora I just don’t see it. It seems more like a way for people to jump on the republican/trump hating bandwagon and say everything about them is horrific; there can be nothing good about republicans and they’re all the same. I’m sick of all the infighting in America. I’m a just to the left of moderate leaning dem for the record.

@smudges Fine if you don’t see it but explain why did he mention the man’s family? This isn’t about hating Trump or Republicans, but about how certain people are constantly permitted to misbehave without consequences. It is simply about right and wrong.

I too get tired of the hate and infighting but what is the alternative? Surrender to what is wrong? Hell, I don’t even want him to go to jail just yet because it’s necessary he run in 2024 so Dems would turn out to vote. I would be full-on content if he would just shut up and go away but happier if there were finally real-world consequences for all the wrongs he did. But I’m no fool. The rich and powerful get a different kind of justice and the poor and weak get no kind of real justice.

I know complaining about it won’t change things but we should be allowed to judge those who set out to ruin our nation for their own perverse enjoyment.

The road we are on right now will probably lead to our destruction unless people care enough to point out what is wrong
.
Is it exhausting yes. Does it mean having to spread hate? No. I’m pointing out what I believe to be wrong with the leaders in our Nation. I’m not talking about some small joe shmo from Timbuktu. I’m talking about people I feel are a current or possible threat to our Nation. I love my nation well enough to be bothered by the wrongs I see.

And btw, I’m like that in everyday real life as well with people in my life. So why so elected officials that can have real world impact on our Nation get a pass.
