Be careful what you wish for. I have watched those believing as yourself and developing the habit of looking forward to that drink or cigarette. It’s the ice cream jones that’s my own downfall.
Depends on the kind of stress, but a very brisk walk around the block (maybe even 2 or 3 times) would really help when what I wanted to do was scream at somebody.
Other times, really dire, I would put on big heavy music like “The Ride of the Valkyries” and crank the volume.
@bob_, great to see you here. What sort of sandwich shall I make you? I had a New England lobster roll right at the edge of the Atlantic today.
Oh some of you guys are corrupting me…
idk
^^ I got so mad at one jelly here I did just that, go for a walk and darn I’m glad I did. The things that were running through my head were not good at all.
@RayaHope “neat” means you take your shot of liquor straight out of the bottle & down it at room temperature. Chilling it is for sissies!!! Since you don’t drink, I suggest you skip the “neat” until a later date as you will become AFU faster & more intense!!!
@LadyMarissa I hate to ask but ..“AFU faster & more intense!!!” what does that mean? @Forever_Free I do some mediation with my yoga BUT not like JLoon’s type. That seemed a little too intense for me.
Transfer all those emotions into doing some creative project.
I am pressing flowers and acrylic painting and old sketch I did awhile ago.
Concentrate on something else and being engaged it it works for me, plus I get a lot of creative works done.
I have a long ‘to do list’ of which I can pick up at anythime.
@gondwanalon has a good answer. Pet a cat for a while will help to calm you. I’m NOT into running, so I’m not sure how well that would work for me…still, it might work for you!!!
I think someone else has recommended going for a long walk…that’s MORE my style!!!
@Brian1946 Oh, I mean really old. My go-to when I just want to zone out or for something to listen to while beading or playing on the computer is The Andy Griffith Show. I’d love to watch Mad About You; will see if I can find it. I also like listening to (I rarely watch) old cartoons, like The Flintstones. There are others, but I’ve gone blank at the moment.
@smudges I signed up with Boomerang & I get a bunch of the old Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, Road Runner & Wylie Coyote. It’s like $60 for a year. I can watch ALL I want to watch in a year & be on reruns by the end of the year & then cancel the membership when I get tired of them!!!
There’s one channel that has all the really old Popeye, but I’m drawing a blank on which channel. I think that same channel had a bunch of the Classic Cartoons from like 1935 that had been colorized as well. Seems they had old Woody Woodpecker too. Just guessing, it might be Tubi & I’m pretty sure it was for FREE!!! I don’t pay for many of the channels that I watch…they gotta be really good before I start paying!!!
Had a very stressful day yesterday. Had a whole lot of pop-up crises at work, ended the day with having to fire a guy and almost another. In the old days we would have said this was a sucky day. I got home, put some ice in a glass, added some tequila, and got on a conference call with our retirement planners. They gave us really good news so the day sort of worked itself out. I followed up by going to a dark room and putting on some music to soothe and relax me further.
No need for stress, one more day and you ain’t got no school no mo’. Until Tuesday anyway. In my day I“d have stepped out with a spring in my step, straight to the billiards hall across the street. I mean, straight home to study all weekend. : )
I suggest speaking with your high school counselor, about your unwelcome thoughts. It should be free, and might as well get as much free counseling while it’s affordable. Mine costs $10/hour for a student psychologist and up to $200/ hour for a full psychologist.
@Nomore_Tantrums Oh yes the looong weekend is almost here. ”straight to the billiards hall across the street. I mean, straight home to study all weekend. : ) hummm which one do I believe? @RedDeerGuy1 I do still see a psychologist but only once every two weeks now. She does help me with a lot of stuff.
When I’m stressed out or tired I really just want to be by myself, and not have to talk to anyone. I usually go online and waste time on FB or looking at news sites, or I watch some TV.
@LadyMarissa I think you are right :) I am so sorry to hear about your left hand. You know that made my eyes tear up, that and your memorial fingers. (HUGS)
@smudges Nope. IF you pay by the month, it’s a LOT higher; however, IF you’re willing to pay by the year, it’s only $5/mon aka $60/yr & I get my money’s worth!!!
BTW, it’s not Tubi that has the good cartoons…it’s Peacock. They want you to pay to watch, but you can still watch plenty without paying & the cartoons fall under the FREE!!!
