I have a small SUV that I have used for backpacking and carrying telescope equipment (Rav4). I’m happy with it except for gas milage. I’m interested in an EV but not until the market matures. So if I had to buy a new car now it would be a PHEV, small SUV.

I want one that zips around and makes noises like the Jetsons had.

I lost my driver’s learners permit, so electric bicycle for me.

I continue to prefer sedans or coupes. I don’t like the aesthetics of SUVs or minivans. I can survive them, but I wouldn’t choose them. Station wagons, hatchbacks, and crossovers are somewhat preferable, but really I like sedans and coupes.

I now also greatly prefer electric vehicles.

@Zaku I agree with you about the aesthetics of SUV. They’re ugly as shit and there’s too many of them. My issue is that I actually use them for their intended purpose (eg. carrying 4 loaded backpacks with ancillary gear and 4 people off road to a trailhead) and a sedan isn’t practical for me. Neither is a complete EV for that matter as trailheads are often a long way from charging stations.

I prefer zippy coupes, too, but I really need a truck so I can stop borrowing my FIL’s.

I hope to be purchasing an SUV next year.

If my current 2017 Ford F-150, 6-cylinder, 2 wheel drive pickup is stolen then I’ll consider buying a new Ford 1–150 hybrid pickup that Ford is now making. Not interested in an EV truck at all.

I am always carrying around loads of crap, and often a dog or two, I like sitting higher up, and, frankly, at my age and level of ouchiness, it is much easier for me to climb in and fall out of my vehicle than the opposite.

I will be sticking with the small SUV type.

Maybe. a Hot Rod or two seat sports car.

Here’s my fantasy vehicle:
A gasoline or diesel plug in hybrid SUV with a 5kW alternator/generator that I can plug into my 220 Volt house electrical box during a power outage. It would be cleaner and quieter than my 4.4kW generator and would have a fuel tank of 20 gallons instead of the 2 gallons.
If the powertrain was diesel I could use my home heating oil to run it for a long time. I have two – 275 gallon tanks and run one until it is empty then then switch to the other. so at any moment I have 275 gallons minimum on site.

Electric bicycle. Maybe someday.

I have a hybrid small SUV (Honda CRV) that I really like and enjoy.

But I am really interested in owning a sports car, with manual transmission. Convertible or Targa roof preferable.

I have a CRV and I find that when I’m in a regular car, since I’m tall, I feel like I’m squatting when I sit in the car or try to get up out of the car. WIth the CRV, it puts me in a standing position when I get out, and to get it, it’s very easy to just lift my leg and swivel. I can’t envision buying any other type of car in the future. I don’t think a pickup truck is for me – it would be too much, too big, I don’t need it. I like a faster car, but it’s not too practical for me as far as buying stuff, traveling with lots of luggage, etc.

I have a 15 year old ½ ton 4×4 truck that gets a lot of use and abuse. I have a 19 year old four banger Toyota Camry for trips and grocery getting. I’d like a hybrid for the grocery getting.

I would love a hybrid convertible that is not too low to the ground. Could be full electric too. I don’t think anything is on the market.

I’m currently looking into getting another motorcycle. I have a big long truck, that couldn’t be worse for driving in the tight streets of downtown.

I miss having a motorcycle, and I was always at my best with a bike and a car/truck. Using the bike for commuting, or short trips really is a great option. It turns the drive into a ride.

I’ve been looking at the 2024 lineup for Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki. I always rode cruisers, and I wanted less chrome and more performance, so I’m looking at some naked, and sport touring bikes.
I haven’t ruled out the 2023–24 Honda Rebel 1100, or what I’m really interested in which is the Fury. The Fury is currently a V-twin1300 cc “chopper” style bike, with long inverted front forks, and a attractive but small gas tank. The 2023 only comes in banana yellow :(
The 2024 model is supposed to be completely redesigned. Artists renditions I have seen about it so far indicate a very different direction, maybe with the same power of the popular African Twin engines… I’m just going to have to see one in person, when they’re out.

Sadly, technology has reared it’s ugly head in motorcycle designs. They have like automatic bikes now. Some with paddle shifters, and touchscreen crap. Digital speedometer. So. Even if I modify the engine, it will still only say 100…
No clutch? I’m not sure whose idea that was. Even if it’s a better system, my muscle memory will never not have me grabbing the clutch in an emergency…
I may have to special order a bike with a fucking clutch…

I love the older Honda Interceptors, and some sport touring versions of some other metric bikes.
If I go inline, I don’t think I should get go with a 1000 cc. It’s not that I can’t drive something like that. I would kill myself. Some bikes are simply too dangerous.

I’m going to ride with a helmet, and some leather… Something I never did when I was younger unless it was cold and/or wet…

I just was at a power sports store, last week. They had everything from motorcycles, jetskis, four-wheelers, dirt bikes, ATVs and boats etc.
Some of the new ATVs are absolutely amazing. But the prices are beyond crazy…

A full-sized Chevy or GMC pick-up with standard cab, 8’ bed, and a V-8 of at least 350 CID.

Since you brought this up I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time looking at vehicle options to see if my fantasy actually existed. It does – sort of.
A version of the Ford F-150 can come with an internal 7.5kW inverter/generator that can act like a whole house power generator when plugged into a properly wired 220 outlet. It burns about 1 gallon per hour and the vehicle has a 30 gallon tank.
The generator is quiet, efficient, and produces high quality power.

If i could have waited another few years to buy my next car, I would have looked at the new small electric Volvo SUV. It’s just coming out now.
